5-26-04

Just when you thought you'd never hear from us again! Well it's been way too long since I updated alldayafternoon.net. Here's an update -- everyone's pretty much doing their own thing for the moment:

Nick - just graduated - congrats !!

Alex - has been playing open mics, and writing new material. I'll get it on the website if he will send it to me! ;)

KJ - has been writing new material as well. He and joel recently had a recording session in Charlotte

Keith - I've been playing open mics and writing new stuff as well.

Joel - Has built a studio and practice space in his house. I expect to be posting new material from him at some point as well!

Other news:

ALLDAY AFTERNOON video -- at long last! I am trying to find somewhere to put our first music video on the web. When I find a host I'll let you know. If you are interested in buying (10$) a copy of the DVD version of the 4 minute video (for 'i couldn't find') with a 100+ picture slide show of various highlights, send me an email at ksigel_99@yahoo.com

Expect a 2004 HOMECOMING show update soon as well.

Keep an eye out for upcoming updates of the website!

8-04-03

Well, those of you eagerly awaiting an allday afternoon show, will unfortunately have to wait just a little bit longer. The next show on the slate is going to be a big one, though, on Oct. 18th at the Library.

Thanks to everyone that's bought a copy of the new cd; we've sold a ton and they keep flying off the shelves at the record stores.

6-29-03

hey all. sorry it's been so long since i've updated the site. my hard drive died a couple of weeks ago and so it's  been kinda slow getting things back together. Cool things that are afoot:

1) check out the songs from the new cd at mp3.com !!

2) 'now I remember' from the last time is in rotation at WKNC 88.1 fm in Raleigh. Call them up and request ADA !!

3) a long time ago ADA recorded acoustic demos of all the songs on open  ended. Very soon those songs will be available for download. Many of the songs have different lyrics and a totally different feel. Included is the alternate  lyric version of 'hazy' where Alex muses on the writing of "his life's essay", and says alot more gutwrenching stuff about that  girl that dumped him.

4) I'm still working on editing the video of our May 17th show at the library into a music video. Keep your eyes out.

5) you can now download ADA on KAZAA. Search for 'allday afternoon' !!

5-29-03

so this is like the coolest thing i've ever seen:

In case you can't tell, that's five of Chapel Hill's hottest women all voluntarily sporting their allday afternoon shirts (we promise it was voluntary!). i've never felt like such a rock star.

and in case you were part of this mob scene, we will be returning to the library on SATURDAY JUNE 14TH!! tell everyone you know.

5-24-03

Well, its a little late, but I wanted to wholeheartedly thank everyone that made last weekends' shows possible. We had the time of our lives. There will be more shows; I promise you!

The new CD is getting an amazing reception-- pick up your copy today at schoolkids. Very soon it will be available on our 'Merch' page. Check back soon for mp3's and lots more ADA pictures. We're in the process of making an ADA video as well, so stay tuned for that!

5-15-03

Can y'all tell I have alot of free time now? ok. so I decided to post some pictures. there's not too many, cause I could only scan what i could find lying around the house. If you've got any, tell me (I)!!

people ask what the inspiration is for joel's songs. here it is.

but people already know what the inspiration is for alex's songs.

but check out some more pics here.

5-14-03

Oh yeah, I just remembered- ADA was featured in the soundtrack of a local independent movie -- 'key lime pie'. Unfortunately, none of us got to see the debut, which was a couple of weeks ago at the Carolina Theater. If it is showing again, we'll let you know!

If you don't own the first CD, many more of the tracks off of the first album are downloadable at www.mp3.com/alldayafternoon. MP3's from the new CD 'the last time' should be available by tomorrow on this site!

5-13-03

The new CD is finished! It is titled 'the last time' and it features 8 new tracks:

1) 2am Saturday - new song by joel, lead vocal by keith, w/ lots of backing vocals by KJ

2) Rebound - a relatively new song by Alex that we've been playing live for several months. Listen to the lyrics on this one; lead vocals by alex

3) Water Falls - very new song by keith, one of three acoustic songs on the album that we recorded ourselves

4) Do you remember.. - A song that KJ has been working on writing for many many months ;) you'll know what its about the first time you hear it. Features Grae Baker of the Tain Collins Band on piano in a spectacular keyboard solo. Lead vocal is the KJer.

5) All I want From You - New song by keith

6) Tell Me I - Song that Alex has played at set breaks before, great lead vocal work by alex, sweet lead guitar work by Joel, one of the 3 acoustic songs on the album

7) Out loud - new acoustic song by KJ, great great song - this guy never ceases to amaze me. If you can understand the words, then you can understand KJ ;)

8) The Last Time - the title says it all. New song by alex, features mandolin work by joel as well as majestic guitar work!!

so now you're excited, right! How can you get this new cd? Well, we'll be selling it at the shows this weekend, and it will be at schoolkids as soon as the artwork and inserts are done (probably the end of this week!). We'll have copies available over the internet very soon as well, so stay tuned.

so here's another review of 'open ended'. It's not the most positive thing in the world, but for some reason I like it. It's honest, and we've always known what we were about in this band.

keep checking in here at alldayafternoon.net, because there's gonna be lots of addtions to the website this week, including more info on the new CD and new pictures and lots of other cools stuff!!

5-2-03

This weekend we'll be mixing down the 5 tracks that we've been working hard to record. The tracks will be mastered the following week and we'll be releasing the new EP (now titled 'the last time') in the days thereafter. Pick up a copy at the mid-May show!

4-22-03

ADA spent this past weekend toiling away in the studio Raleigh. We are recording a five song EP that may be entitled 'for our listening pleasure', but then again it might not :) Everything went very well, and we've just got a few more vocal tracks to lay down and then we've got to mix it and master it and then it will be unleashed upon the eager populace. Speaking of recordings, check out this new review of 'open ended' from Blue Tint magazine!

The tentative line-up of this CD is: a new track by joel with working title 'Walking' featuring me (Keith) on lead vocals, two songs by Alex - 'Rebound' and 'The Last Time', both featuring him on vocals, KJ's new song (it doesn't even have a working title) featuring the KJ'er on vocals, and my new song entitled 'all I want from you'. Nick has been working on his 12 minute epic track entitled 'ninjas and cheese' but I it wasn't close enough to completion to make it onto this recording.

4-12-03

Come on out to the Coffee shop and Lucy's this week; we're heading into the studio this weekend and have 4 brand new songs that will be debuted. We'll be testing out the songs tommorrow (monday night) at the new open mic at the Library on Franklin St. Thanks to everyone who came out recently, and special thanks to our swimmer friends who came to the Library decked out in their allday afternoon t-shirts!

3-26-03

Another amazing show at the library this past weekend! Come hang out with us at lucy's this weekend!

3-16-03

We've been busy lately! Sometimes I wonder if I have the time to be alive :) joel and nick and I have been slammed with school (how'd that big organic chem test go nick?) and Alex and KJ have been busy stamping deposit slips. allday afternoon is getting ready to kick it into high gear with tons of shows in the upcoming months. Thanks to everyone who came out to the 'pre spring break bash' at the Library! We're reorganizing and trying to get back into the studio some time soon, so expect news and updates on that. Check out new stuff in the 'press' section!

2-11-03

come on out to The Library this weekend -- we're debuting some new songs, and joel is debuting a new haircut! If you haven't gotten your Alex / KJ fix yet and you can't wait until this weekend, head on down to the Hwy 54 branch of State Employees Credit Union -- make sure you ask for 5's and 10's!

2-1-03

Another amazing set of shows! thanks to everyone who came out to the Cantina in raleigh on friday, and same goes to all our friends who blew out Lucy's last night. As always, we had a complete blast, although we are trying to convince Alex to never wear a football jersey on stage ever again

On a technical note, I have just become aware that the mailing list function of the site has been down, probably for a couple of months, so if you signed up for the mailing list online and have not gotten any newsletters or if you would like to join, please drop us an email at alldayafternoon@yahoo.com. I will try to get the mailing list function back up again soon.

Lots of new shows that will be added in the next couple of days, so stay tuned, and thanks again to everyone who came out to support us this weekend!

1-11-03

woah. What a week! Thanks to everyone who came out on tues, thurs, and saturday. I must say, with no disrespect to anyone who came out during the week, that saturday was undoubtedly the most amazing allday afternoon show to date! Again, we couldn't have done it without y'all, and we hope that everyone had as much fun as we did. Joel and I agreed that if we had gotten electrocuted on stage that we would have died sublimely happy. Thanks!

1-7-03

thanks to everyone that made it out to our last couple of shows, especially our friends in charlotte. We had a great time at the Evening Muse, a quaint little club in downtown Charlotte. We've got lots of great shows coming up, so we hope to see ya soon!

12-31-02

Hope everyone is having a wonderful holiday season! We just booked a show that we're really excited about at a new place in Chapel Hill called the library. It's a music oriented bar that is located in the heart of the business district on Franklin Street.  Perhaps the greatest thing about this new establishment is that allday afternoon will be the first band ever to play there. This will undoubtedly endow the library with a long and prosperous life :)

12-19-02

Check out an article about our Zimbabwe benefit show in the fifth estate magazine.

Our song dive inside has been added to several internet radio stations recently; check them out here!

12-8-02

We are featured on an MP3 radio station [tarheel radio] -- featuring bands that have current or past UNC-CH students. check it out here

12-7-02

Well, the score is officially :  Ice Storm 1 - allday afternoon 0. Sorry to everyone who was eagerly anticipating a rousing Lucy's show on friday; they were without power. Nick claims that he waited outside the venue for 2 hrs for the rest of the band, but I think he was really at home listening to his Stain'd CD. Currently our plans for world domination are on hold, as the entire band is without power. Alex is continually complaining about not being able to study because of diminished lighting, and Joel and I just want to be able to turn the playstation back on. Nick said that if the power doesn't come back on soon he might run out of batteries for his portable CD player and have to go without Stain'd for a while.

Anyhow, we hope y'all are staying warm, studying hard (or working hard) and that your respective power company decides that you're important enough to deserve reestablishment of services sometime in the near future.

11-24-02

Check out another song from open ended, entitled "Left me Guessing" -- available at mp3.com! also, check for new updates in the band bios section. Nick decided that the list of his favorite albums  wasn't 'cool'  enough, so  he decided to change it; I don't know why he left off that Stain'd album that he's always listening to ?

Want to hear allday afternoon news as soon as it happens? sign up for the mailing  list!

ALLDAY AFTERNOON T-SHIRTS now available. place your order in the merch section or pick one up at the next show!

Hope everyone has a great thanksgiving!

11-20-02

Thanks to everyone who came out to Avalon last night. We played a benefit show for Zimbabwean students sponsored by Students for Students. I'm not sure how much they raised at the door, but it seemed like there were over 100 folks there at the peak. We had a great time watching and hanging out with our pals from Satellite Down and Only Midnight.

Joel wanted me to put up the sample designs for the new t-shirts. Design credit goes to Nick (for overall design), Lee Maschmeyer (for the tendril-like graphic), and Me and Joel (for the well placed and highly aesthetically pleasing right angle in the upper left hand corner. I don't know what this band is doing messing around with music when it contains so many adept graphic designers.

note that this is just to demonstrate the three different colors that the shirt will be available in.

11-19-02

erratum: i was reminded by one of our loyal supporters that we have also gotten radio airplay on UNC's own WXYC 89.3 fm. We love everyone out there who is down with the cause.

coming this FRIDAY !!! allday afternoon T-SHIRTS. we're pretty excited. You can place your order via the merch link above or pick one up at a show-- they'll be available in all sizes, in 3 colors - kelly green, red, and navy. Stay tuned for a picture so you can get a glimpse of the hottest new fashion item around. AND speaking of heat:

The results of the allday afternoon 'hot or not' challenge are in --

the competition: all five members of allday afternoon posted their pictures on www.hotornot.com, an internet site that allows visitors to vote on the featured photographs. Voters attempt to evaluate the pictures for 'hotness'. Scores are then tabulated using a complicated statistical weighting scheme.

the results:

KJ - 8.3

Alex - 9

Nick - 8

Keith - 9.3

Joel - 7.9

it doesn't get much hotter than that. we invite any other bands to take us on.

11-14-02

Thanks to everyone who came out to P-Bobs last night! As always, the end of the night proves to contain some of the most memorable moments-- last night, it was an unexpected performance of 'you left' -- the final track from open ended. We have only performed that one live once before, at the cd release party-- we love the song, but it's kinda long (7+ minutes).

Recent updates to the site include new press in the 'press section', a new motto for alex, and a new mailing list page (so exciting.). Coming soon -- allday afternoon t-shirts, created by world famous designer Nick Wagner, and tons and tons of shows.

11-10-02

We had one of our most fun shows ever last night at lucy's! Thanks to everyone who came out!

We've got several shows that we're excited about in the next couple of weeks, and then things slow down a bit for the holidays. We've been getting some airplay on WKNC (88.1 fm raleigh)  during their local music show-- you can hear it on fridays from noon to 2pm; but you can call and request us anytime :)

We debuted a new original song last night-- Alex wrote it, and I'm not sure what it's gonna be called, (and I'm not allowed to say what we're calling it right now!) -- but I love it. We've got a new song by KJ that we'll also be playing at upcoming shows.

11-01-02

Last night we rocked the Carolina brewery for our halloween spectacular. Thanks to everybody who came out!
