This page is meant to be a guide to finding information on the web and on other databases on the poet Maya Angelou. Maya Angelou is a well-known African American poet, whose works have been an inspiration to many. She recited one of her poems at President Clinton's inauguration. Information about her poems and her life can be accessed by using links from this page to other sources on the Web.

    This is a link to Maya Angelou's famous poem, "And Still I Rise." Maya Angelou has been asked to recite this poem on numerous occassions. This page is wonderful for anyone who is a lover of Angelou's poetry. Also, one can find information about other poets and literary figures by searching the links on this page.

    This article details the works and achievements of various African American poets and authors. It provides the reader with the prices of the books and addresses for purchasing information. This is a good source to find general information about African American poets.
  • Freeman, Michael. "The poet as a talk-show host."Mediaweek  May 8, 1995, p.5.
    This article is a must for anyone who's interested Maya Angelou. It discusses Angelou's alleged intent to become a syndicated talk-show host. The article said that a project was under way for a late night show called Maya Angelou's America. Apparently, the show was never produced, but this thought still leaves hope for her fans.

    This CD-ROM has biographical information on Maya Angelou. It also contains links to many of her poems. This CD-ROM is wonderful for doing research on any poem or poet because it locates by author, title, or keyword.

    This is another invaluable resource for anyone researching African American poetry. It contains detailed information about numerous poets, and gives citations for further research. The information is up-to-date and gives a comprehensive look at many of the "forgotten" poets.
  • Angelou, Maya. "A wake-up call from a poet."U.S. News & World Report,February, 1993, p6.
    This article is the transcript of the poem which Maya Angelou recited at President Clinton's inauguration. It was one of the few non-Web resources which had the poem printed in its entirety. There's also a brief article following the poem discussing Angelou and her influence in America.
