My broad research interest is in marine physiological ecology and conservation. There are various stressors both natural and anthropogenic that are affecting marine organisms worldwide. I am particularly interested in understanding how local exposure to these stressors influences the physiological response of these organisms, and how this links to global climate change. It is important that I establish clear links between my research endeavors and how they may be used by reserve managers and marine conservationists to help protect and conserve these marine organisms for future generations to enjoy. Much of my work is focused on physiological ecology of tropical coral reefs. Corals are one of the most biologically diverse ecosystems on earth. Growing up along the southern coast of Belize I have seen first-hand how environmentally and economically important this system is to coastal communities and the world on a whole.
