| And now...my portfolio!
I worked as a youth apprentice and news intern for the Wilson Daily
Times for four years. I wrote articles for both the news and lifestyle
sections. So, for your reading pleasure, I have posted four of my
articles. Due to technical difficulties, I was unable to get the full
layout of the articles for my website. While you cannot view the pictures
that were published with the story, you can read the full text. Enjoy!

Starting
Married Life in a Bed of Roses
This article
is about outside weddings at the Wilson Rose Garden. It's a shame
you can't see the pictures, because they are beautiful! This story
was a Saturday Feature - in other words, I wrote the entire front
page of the Lifestyle section!

Dog
Sees for Owner
This story describes
the life of Tina Turnage, a blind Wilson woman, and her seeing-eye
dog, Renessa. Another Saturday Feature for Lifestyle, I wrote this
story with the help of the other news intern. Needless to say, it
was quite an assignment!

Long
Recess Starts for Lucama
This article
ran on the front page of the Wilson Daily Times. The oldest elementary
school in the county was going to be demolished and a new one built
in its place. This was a fun article to write because I went to
this particular elementary school.

She
Specializes in Cakes, Good Deeds
Each Monday,
the Wilson Daily Times featuerd a good citizen of Wilson County
in what is called the "Neighbors" section. "Neighbors"
run on the front page of the newspaper. Generally, interns are assigned
these stories. People in the community nominate people for the Neighbor
column. For this particular story, I wrote about Jesse Lou White.
