History of Women's BasketballSynopsis: I researched women's basketball because there is little known about the history of the sport and the game has greatly increased in popularity in recent years. The web was useful because it provided a great deal of updated current information.

Other Reference Sources:
Beran, Janice A. "From six-on-six to full court press: a century of Iowa girl's basketball." Ames: Iowa State University Press, 1993.
This is a fully comprehensive view of the changing times of women's basketball. Beran uses the state of Iowa as a reference point for examing the various eras in women's basketball. This is one of the few truly historical sources I found on women's basketball.

This is one of the few regional looks we have on women's basketball. This is also a comprehensive historical source, although it does not cover as much history of women's basketball. However, it examines the much ignored time period before the game grew in popularity among the college ranks.

Kirkus Reviews. "Shooting from the outside: How a coach and her Olympic Team Transformed Women's Basketball." (July 1997): p. 288
This article examines the differences that Coach Tara Vanderveer has seen in the game of women's basketball. She has seen numerous changes in women's basketball in her lengthy career which includes a growing respect among the athletic community toward's women's basketball players. Some of this respect stems from the ease with which the women's basketball team won the Olympic gold medal.
Wheatly, Shelby. "YOU GO GIRLS! Female athletes get the recognition, respect they deserve in sports." Morning Star, 19 January 1998, sec. 1D, 5D.
This articles speaks of the growing popularity of women's sports in the United States. While women's sports used to not be seen as very interesting and athletic they are becoming an increasing source of income and popularity. Leading the way in this is women's basketball, in olympic, college, and professional leading the way.
General comments:
The difference in web and print sources is that web information is more current and often accesses to other related information on the web. It is also easier to find exactly the kind of information you want. Print sources, however are generally more comprehensive on one particular topic.
I would prefer to use web sources because it is quicker and easier to use.
