Maps and Geography

     Serbia and Montenegro cover 102,350 square kilometers combined, with terrain ranging from mountainous in the southeast, to plains in the north. Montenegro has a small, more than 80 kilometers, coastline (west side of the country) on the Adriatic Sea.

     The capital of Serbia and Montenegro is Belgrade, which doubles as the capital of Serbia, while Podgorica is the capital of Montenegro.

     The country has a combined population of 8 million people split up into to four main ethnic groups, the largest being the Serbs at 62.6% of the population, followed by Albanians at 16.5%, Montenegrins at 5%, Hungarians at 3.3% and other ethnic groups making up the remaining 12.6%. The major religions of Serbia and Montenegro are Orthodox (65%), Muslim (19%), Roman Catholic (4%), and Protestant (1%).

     The overwhelming majority of the country speaks Serbo-Croatian, with a 5% minority speaking Albanian.
