In
1992, Zeta Tau Alpha adopted The Susan G. Komen Breast
Cancer Foundation as the Fraternity's national philanthropy. At the
1996 International Convention, the Fraternity voted to increase
ZTA's support of breast cancer awareness by backing all
organizations committed to breast cancer research, education,
screening and treatment.
Each year,
the Theta Tau (UNC) Chapter of Zeta Tau Alpha holds a Franklin 5K race to raise
money for The Susan G.
Komen Breast Cancer Foundation and the ARC of Orange County.
In 2001, the Theta Tau
Chapter raised more money for the Foundation than any other ZTA Chapter
in the
nation with this race. The race takes place in the spring semester of each year,
and continues
to be a great success.
