What is Nuclear Power

In the simplest terms, it is power (usually electrical) that is generated by a nuclear reactor and is produced by the heat released by either a chain reaction of nuclear fission or nuclear fusion.  Nuclear power, is the key source of energy in many places such as France, where more than half of the country's power comes from nuclear energy to the United States where there are over 100 nuclear power plants.  However, even as a good alternative to non-renewable resources that are depleting such as oil and natural gas, there are concerns about nuclear waste disposal as well as the effects it has on the environment due to radiation or in other ways.
