Educators, by nature, are committed to providing the best educational experience for their students as they possibly can. Their constant focus is on the learning taking place in their classrooms. But what can they do when students have disabilities that impair their access to learning, either physical or cognitive? According to Johnston, Beard, and Carpenter, “educators have the opportunity to individualize instruction with many technological devices never before available in education” (2007). These devices fall within the expansive realm of assistive technology.
