me in the newsroom

my name is kim minugh and i'm a senior at the university of north carolina at chapel hill. although i was born in portland, oregon, i grew up in sunny orange county, california (the orange county of jack black, no doubt and tony hawk fame). after i graduated from high school, my family uprooted and moved to the beautiful (but cold) state of maine. the change was drastic, but not as drastic as my own move from the west coast to the south. i came to unc for it's renowned journalism school, but after living in southern california for roughly 13 years, i also really wanted to challenge myself and broaden my horizons. i couldn't have made a better choice.

i absolutely adore unc's character and charm, as well as the broad array of opportunities it has to offer its students. since i arrived, i've spent most of my time working for the daily tar heel, unc's campus newspaper and one of the best college newspapers in the country. right now i'm editor-in-chief, but my term is quickly coming to a close. in just a little more than a month, i'll be graduating and starting a whole new adventure in my life. this summer i'll be a reporting intern at the sacramento bee in california, but my future thereafter is up in the air. while i'll greatly miss unc, the daily tar heel and the friends i've made, i'm eager to see what the future has in store for me.

in what little free time i have, i enjoy going to local shows, reading and spending time with friends. my favorite local hangouts are linda's bar & grille, breadmen's restaurant and go! studios. i love taking road trips when i have the time and money, and my favorite escape is to the beach - that's what i miss most about california.

thank you for visiting my web page. i hope this gives you an opportunity to get to know a little more about me.
