In January 2009, the Guild donated bears to the UNC Division of Child Psychiatry's Program on Childhood Trauma & Maltreatment. We received the following thank you email: From: Kathy Justice Date: January 27, 2009 2:12:11 PM EST To: carolsclove@me.com Subject: Bears for children Ms. Sclove, I just wanted to let you know that Linnea Smith brought the bears in to us yesterday that you and your ladies' knitting group were so kind to share with us and we were thrilled! They are absolutely adorable and will be much loved by our clients. We work under the UNC Division of Child Psychiatry and see children who have had some type of trauma or abuse. Very often when we first see them, they have just been taken from their homes and placed in foster care or they have been through some other type of trauma. It helps to feel like they've come to a safe place where they can get help and having a new bear to cuddle can be a big help! Thank you so much for the wonderful service you're doing and for sharing with us. Please thank the other ladies in your knitting group for us, too. We deeply appreciate your kindness. Sincerely, Kathy Justice Administrative Assistant Program on Childhood Trauma & Maltreatment UNC Division of Child Psychiatry 104-A Market Street Southern Village Chapel Hill, NC 27516
