Welcome to my website. It's different from many others. I hope that from looking through it, you get a true sense of who I am and the life I live. This is me below. No, I am not two years old anymore, I'm 20, but this is one of my favorite pictures of myself. To see more picture of myself and the people I love, click on the image.

Introduction
I'm a student at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. As a journalism major, I am required to take a class in electronic information sources, J50. Part of the curricula is to design and develop a website. We are required to have a home page, resume page, research page (you'll see) and a portfolio page. I have also included a links page and a scrapbook where I get to show off the people in my life. If you want, you can go to any of these pages directly. If you aren't a student at UNC and are interested in learning more about the oldest public university in the country (also one of the best), you can click on that link.

Although I am not the most technical person, as you can probably conclude, I have a bast imagination. Just to explain what I'm trying to say: I had great ideas for my site, but was limited by my knowledge and ability, by the class criteria (we couldn't learn everything, it's an intro class) and also by time.

School
J50 is just one class I have taken in the school of journalism and mass communication, in one area of interest. I have recently added a second major in political science. Why? It has to do with the fact that I plan to go to law school after I graduate in May, 2003. Since there is no pre-law major offered at UNC, a lot of legally focused undergrads major in political science.

I went to a private school in St. Louis, MO, my hometown. I wanted to come to Carolina because of everything it offers: academics, atmosphere, athletics, ability, etc. I have loved it since day one and would never second guess my decision.

Activities
Since my freshmen year I have been involved in may organization and activities. Just to name a few: Carolina Cancer Focus (CCF), Project UNC (a day of service), the student alumni association, UNC Dance Marathon and Alpha Chi Omega sorority. There are others, but in particular, the last two have and continue to make a direct impact on my life that will last forever.

I joined AX the second week of my freshmen year. It is one of eleven social sororities (really fraternities) on campus. I didn't know a soul; I barely knew where I was going, but becoming a part of AX has given me a family away from my own, and has allowed me to meet and get to know some of the most amazing females.

UNC Dance Marathon was founded the year before I came to Carolina. It is a 24 hour "marathon" where dancers gather together and pledge to stay on their feet the whole time. Benefiting the UNC Children's Hospital, our commitment is meant to symbolize the time that parent sand families of sick children spend awake, either in the hospital or driving back and forth, or worrying. This year, we raised over $100,000 for For the Kids Fund and had over 350 "dancers." Someday, we hope to hold a marathon like the University of Pennsylvania, for which dancers apply and are chosen, and dance for 48 hours. This has been one of the most rewarding things I have been witness to.

Hobbies
My friends would probably say that I am weird, which I am, but aren't we all? I mean, we all have our won individual quirks and idiosyncrasies, that's what makes us all different. As far as hobbies, I love to cook and entertain. I know, I am only 20 years old, and I have hobbies of a 45 year old mother and wife, but what can I say except that it didn't come from my mother.

I love to shop, even though I am trying to refrain from doing do in an abundant manner. But I am not one for shopping with other people, except my mom. I think this is a sign of a true shopper - one who likes to do what she wants, stay in a store for however long she wants, or breeze through if nothing catches her eye. At one point in my live, I thought that being a personal shopper was the best possible job.

I started needlepointing in the 6th grade. It is big in St. Louis and all of my friends from home do it also. It is one of those hobbies that you can have forever, at least as long as you can see, and the things you can needlepoint are endless. I just finished my third belt.

Another hobby that can last a long time is tennis. I started playing in the 5th grade and played consistently until I graduated high school. Although I need to tune my skills, I have started to pick up a racquet every now and then.

In the future, I foresee gold as another physical hobby- also one that is practically ageless.

There are many other things that consume my time, but one of my favorites is spending time with my family, especially my parents. I discovered early on that time with my parents, who are also my best friends, is precious, and since I am away, it is also limited.

There are many times when it is my sister, Stephanie, my mom and I. Whether it is shopping, eating lunch, hanging out by the pool or running errands, we never run out of things to do together. Don't we look alike?

Interests
As far as interests go, one associate with my hobbies are obvious: food and cooking (I love watching the Food Network), fashion. Others include writing, magazines (content and layout), reading (when I have time to read books other than for class), weddings (see my portfolio) and travel.

Family
David and Sandy are my amazing parents. They are in St. Louis and always will be. Dad has lived there all of his 60 years (sorry daddy) and mom moved from Fredericktown, MO after college (I know better than to publicly announce mom's age).

Mom and Dad (mommy and daddy to me) work together. Dad is a doctor and has two other docs in his practice; mom runs the whole thing. After 25 years spent living and working together, it never ceases to amaze me how much they not only love each other, but how much they are still in love with each other. I only hope I get so lucky; I have a lot to live up to.

I have two brothers and three sisters - all older than me. The closest one in age is my sister, Jenny, who is nine years older than me. David, 34, is the oldest and is engaged to Katherine. Lisa, the next oldest, has one son, my nephew Michael. Mike is 32, Stephanie is 30, is married to Chris and together they have two beautiful daughters: Ellie (Elise Pauline) and Madison Anne Marie. Jenny is 29 and is a firefighter/paramedic.

All of my immediate family lives in St. Louis. This tells me that I will be moving back some day. I can't help it, I hate being away from them!
