The class will last approximately one-half hour, with additional time (up to one-half hour) for
questions about and/or supervised practice. This class will be offered as requested, at least once in the summer of 2002 and possibly again in the fall of 2002.
The class will combine a lecturette style of presentation with hands-on exploration of websites.
The instructor will explain and demonstrate resources that participants
can explore both during
the lecturette and in the open-ended time follwing the structured presentation. In-class
demonstrations will use suggestions from participants, as well as
"canned" exercises. In addition, participants will be made aware of the
print handout to which they can refer at any time
outside the classroom. These methods support attitude, skills, and knowledge outcomes while
allowing a fair amount of information to be transmitted in a short period of time.

This course is designed for NCSU Libraries staff who work at either the main reference desk or any one of the satellite service points, including the branches and the offsite services center. There is a
maximum of 20 participants per class, with no minimum.
Participants are asked, but not required, to sign up prior to the class so that the
instructor knows both how many people will be attending. It is suggested that participants read the class handout (available from the instructor and on the shared drive)
It is assumed that participants have taken or plan to take the New Staff Copyright Workshop, offered by the Scholarly Communication Center several times each summer.
