Research on Pilates
For JOMC 50, we were required to research a topic using the internet and library sources at UNC-CH. Feel free to email me with comments!

Section I-a: Introduction

As I was watching TV one day, I saw an infomercial for this tape called "Winsor Pilates." The infomercial demonstrated how to perform this exercise called "pilates." It told why so many people have turned to this new form of working out. Based on this video and based on a pilates class I took, I knew that this exercise was easy and rewarding. I knew that this exercise could benefit your health in different ways.

I wanted to learn more about pilates since I could gather only so much information from a 5-minute infomercial and one pilates class. I want to know how can pilates benefit you health wise? Who can perform pilates? Why is pilates better than other exercises?

My intended audience would be students in college and people in the working world. So many students in college obsess about working out and staying healthy, so pilates would be a new exercise pattern they could try and enjoy. Many people in the working world focus so much on working that they do not set aside time to work out, thinking that exercise requires too much effort. After learning about pilates, this audience will see that this exercise routine can work from them.
