Welcome!
I'm glad you decided to visit my very first website! My name is Leslie, and I am a senior at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I am double majoring in journalism (news-editorial sequence) and religious studies (probably concentrating in Medieval and Early Modern). I know it might sound like a strange combination, but it works for me!
I was born in Newton, North Carolina, which is a smallish town at the foothills of the NC mountains. My family has been there for generations, so no matter where I end up, Newton will always be home. My parents, Wayne and Rita Bumgarner, are the best parents a girl could ask for, and they continue to be inspirations for me. I have one sister, Andrea, who is almost two years older than me. She graduated from N.C. State in 2001 and is now a computer engineer. Oh, and even though this website is done in red, don't get any ideas. In my heart, I'll always be true to my Carolina Blue!
Between school and maintaining somewhat of a social life, there's not a lot of time for hobbies other than writing. However, I do love to be outdoors whenever I can. I like swimming, hiking, and camping, especially in the mountains. I also love to travel when I get the chance. I've seen quite a bit of this country, and now I want to check out some others (I've been to Canada, but that doesn't count). After working for a newspaper, I've also taken up photography, which I really enjoy. And at the risk of sounding superficial, I will admit that I also love shopping. I'll shop for anything from shoes to antiques.
Here's a quick list of some of my likes and dislikes:
Some things that make me happy: Fresh flowers, hats, country music, yard sales, old movies, roller skates, Bojangles, sticky notes, board games, and especially cowboys
Some things that make me less happy: skiing, pancakes, snakes, fake nails, mushrooms, and especially math
Well, I'm not quite sure what the future holds for me after graduation next May, but I'm not too worried yet. I just want to enjoy the experiences and opportunities that God has in store for my life. Wish me luck!
