dddddTwo men robbed the Applebee's at 1508 E. Franklin St. Wednesday night. There

were six employees in the restaurant when the robbery occurred. No customers were

present, and no one was injured.

dddddAccording to Chapel Hill police spokeswoman Jane Cousins, an armed suspect

entered the restaurant at 11 p.m., 30 minutes after it had closed. While grabbing an

employee to use as his shield, he walked to the back of the restaurant and ordered the

five other employees get down on the floor.

dddddA second suspect came into the restaurant, and the two men took $4,000 from the

cash register, three telephones, a watch and $150 from the employees before forcing them

into a storage room.

dddddInvestigators are checking whether this incident is related to the Aug. 25 robbery

of a McDonald's at 1748 Fordham Blvd. in Chapel Hill in which two armed men forced some

employees to undress before locking them in the freezer.

dddddThe police have not released additional physical descriptions of the suspects;

however, the first suspect was dressed in black attire consisting of a mesh mask, hooded

sweat shirt and mesh gloves.
