How do the Internet and World Wide Web work?

http://www.howstuffworks.com - this is a great site for basic information on all sorts of things. Simply enter a keyword or use the hierarchical listings in the center of the page.
Web Browser Basics & Tutorials
http://www.webteacher.org/winnet/indextc.html - this site has both a web primer and a browser tutorial. Use the menu bar on the right side of the screen to choose.
http://www.rtpnet.org/train/handouts/navigating.html - this is a good basic handout created by the former webmaster of UNC.
Security Issues

http://www.cookiecentral.com/ - this site tracks cookie developments and has a good explanation of how cookies work.
