The Massachusetts Audubon Society has saved some Cape Cod coastline from development

The photos below are from a seven-day hiking trip through the mountains.  Most days brought rain, so long views were limited.

Mt. LaFayette seen from the summit of Mt. Garfield

The AT winds south along the ridge from Mt. LaFayette toward Mt. Lincoln.

Last year I nearly fell down this slippery rock face, but was saved by my climbing poles.

The trail down is rocky, steep, and sometimes more difficult than the trail up.

  The summit of
South Twin offers no views today.

View from porch at Zealand Hut.  Around the corner is Thoreau Falls.
