We had to go back and re-do a three-mile section of the AT on Bromley Mountain where we lost the trail last year in a heavy rainstorm.  This year we had better weather on this part of the trail.

  Old fire towers on Stratton Mountain and on Glastonbury Mountain provided good views.  
Much of the trail in Vermont and northern Massachusetts had rocks, roots, and mud holes...   
but there were also lovely ponds like this one.  .
Hurricane Irene posed a severe threat to hikers in late August 2011, and warning notices were posted at the trailheads.
