North Carolina Teaching Asia Network (NCTAN)

The purpose of the NCTAN is to enhance instruction on Asia  in the K-12 curriculum, especially most often required world history, social studies and geography courses.

NCTAN will conduct a series of 30 to 40 hour intensive workshops on East Asia for middle and high school teachers who are teaching about East Asia in the context of; Arts, Social Studies, World History, Geography, World Literatures and Cultures.

Each year since 2001, NCTAN holds at least two seminars at selected North Carolina Universities. The seminar workshops are scheduled for a number of Saturdays and usually start in October and finish in April.

This effort is part of the National Consortium for Teaching about Asia (NCTA) and is supported by the Freeman Foundation.
