Summary
I'm currently a senior at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in the school of Journalism and Mass Communication. My major is graphic design. When I graduate I hope to get a job in my field, maybe a full-time position at the Herald-Sun in Durham, NC, the newspaper where I work now. I would eventually like to be an art director for a magazine or have my own design company. Right now I'm trying to learn as much as I can and would like to get begin doing some freelance design, web design, and photography.

High School: Graduated with distinguished honors from Garner Senior High School.
Professional Experience
Graphic Designer:Part-time at the Herald-Sun, a daily newspaper in Durham, NC. If you would like to visit the H-S On-line click here. Right now I work in the afternoons doing graphics and infographics for thingd like the 1999 Special Olympics World Games which are coming to the area this summer. I will soon begin doing page layout. The programs I primarily use are Freehand 8 and QuarkXpress 4.0.
Photographer:Part-time photographer for Photo Specialties, a small company in Chapel Hill, NC. I mostly do work related to UNC-CH but sometimes I shoot events for companies and other organizations. Involves some travel.
Personal Background
Family: My mother and father live in Garner, NC in the house where I grew up. My father owns a construction company called Concept Construction and my mother works for the Wake County Department of Social Services. My sister's name is Kristen and she is married and lives in Winston-Salem, NC where she works as a physician's assisstant. Her husband Sean, my new brother-in-law is a doctor.
Hobbies: biking, tennis, photography, travel, gymnastics, yoga.
Computer Skills
Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator: a drawing and design program.
Proficiency in QuarkXpress: a computer program used mostly for page design and layout.
Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop: a computer program that specializes in manipulation and improvement of photos.
Scanning: in am comfortable using a Hewlitt Packard Deskscan II and a Nikon Negative Scanner.
