Who am I? Lindsey King is a graduate student in Sociology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I received an undergraduate degree in Psychology from the University of Texas at Arlington, and expect to receive my PhD in Sociology in the spring of 2010. The links at left cover important aspects of my academic career.
Research interests: My areas of expertise are the sociology of work and social psychology. I am well-versed in the literature on work from both sociological and organizational-behavior perspectives. Political sociology is a secondary research focus, particularly as it pertains to the political structures governing the labor force.
My research thus far has focused on job insecurity and occupational mobility. I am also strongly interested in gender relations in the workplace, the effect of workplace superstars on coworker motivation, and socialization into new workplaces.
My dissertation examines the influence of political structures on workers’ perceptions and feelings about job insecurity. The tab at left links to a page that provides greater detail, as well as a link to my dissertation proposal.
