Spanish 73 – Course Contract and Important Course Information

Graded Course Components
10% - Required attendance in class and active daily participation.
10% - Weekly contributions to the class Blackboard electronic discussion forum.
10% - Informe and class discussion leading
20% - 2 compositions (10% each)
50% - exams (midterm thru Rubén Darío is 20% and comprehensive Final exam is 30% of final grade)
Final grades will be determined according to the following scale: 91.5+=A; 89.5-91.49=A-; 87.5-89.49 = B+; 81.5-87.49=B; 79.5-81.49=B-; 77.5-79.49=C+; 71.5-77.49 = C; 69.5-71.49 = C-; 67.5-69.49 = D+; 59.5-67.49 = D; 59.49 and lower=F.

Participation & Attendance
Your participation in class is an important factor in this course; come to class prepared to talk in Spanish about your reading. Attendance will be taken daily. More than three (3) unexcused absences will lower your grade by 1 point per day up to 10 percentage points.

Electronic discussion forum:
10% of your final grade will be based on the quantity and quality of your contributions to the Blackboard electronic class discussion forum. You should contribute at least once a week (min. 60 words in Spanish); ideally some of your comments should be on readings before they are discussed in class, some after, and some should be responses to the comments of your classmates.

Honor Code
