                         BETHESDA CHEVY CHASE RESCUE SQUAD (1989-1993):

Emergency Medical Technician.

Nationally and Maryland certified paramedic.

ACLS and BTLS certified.

 

                         UNIVERSITY OF CHICAGO (1993-1999):

Participated in orientation for minority graduate students.

Involved in recruitment of graduate students to the Committee on Neurobiology.

 

                          BROWN UNIVERSITY (1999-2004):

Co-chair of the Brown University Postdoctoral Association. Mentioned in an article in The George Street Journal.

Mentor in the African, Latino, Asian, Native American Mentoring Program.

Introduced high school students (Hope High School, Providence RI) from underrepresented minorities to scientific research. I worked with the principal and science teachers at Hope High School, in addition to professors, postdoctoral research associates and graduate students at Brown University. The high school students were placed in three labs, in the Department of Neuroscience at Brown University, in which they learned how to do experiments in molecular biology and electrophysiology.

 

                           RADIO PA'LANTE (2006-2008):

Mentor and board member for the Latino youth program Radio Pa'lante. Mentioned in an article in The Daily Tarheel.

                           WCOM 103.5 FM (2005-Present):

Volunteer DJ for the show "Fiesta Latina" which is a mix of Latin American music and commentaries on issues important to the Latino community.
