ExxonMobil Exploration Company, Houston, TX, Summer 2004

Geosciences Intern

Evaluated hydrocarbon potential of several previously proposed and new prospects. Duties included 3D seismic and interval attribute extraction interpretation, prospect risking, and hydrocarbon volumetric evaluation. Results contributed to company opinion of prospectivity in project area.

 

University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill August 2003- May 2004

Graduate Teaching Assistant

Taught introductory geology and igneous petrology labs to undergraduate students. Also assisted in leading one-week freshman field seminar to southeastern California. Served as head teaching assistant for introductory labs during final semester of teaching responsibilities.

 

Isotope Geochemistry Laboratory, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. August 2002-June 2003

Research Assistant

Carried out tasks necessary to keep the thermal ionization mass-spectrometry (TIMS) lab up and running. Established procedure for use of new elemental separation materials to decrease analytical time and assisted with TIMS analysis of geologic samples.

 

NSF Graduate Teaching Fellow Program, Vanderbilt University/Meharry Medical College, Nashville, TN, January 2002-June 2002

Graduate Teaching Fellow

Provided basic science instruction to seventh and eighth grade students. Program put graduate ³experts² into public middle school environment to spur early interest in science for children who may otherwise not realize their academic abilities.

Curry Group Inc., Redding, CA, July 1999-August 2000

Engineering Inspector and Technician

Supervised and inspected various types of construction projects including steel structures, highways and earth work. Duties were focused on inspection of all aspects of highway surface material production and placement. Acted as go-between for state engineers and contractors. Performed various lab duties including construction materials testing and inspection and geotechnical testing.

 

Vector Engineering, Grass Valley, CA, May 1998-June 1999

Laboratory Technician and acting Laboratory Manager

Tested materials primarily used in construction of landfills and mining waste disposal sites. Typical analyses included sample shear strength, optimum material compaction and fluid permeability. Temporarily duties included lab management, which consisted of scheduling work, data entry and interpretation, reporting results, client billing and staff scheduling.
