University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill - not your average school UNC, my college for the past three years. I'm currently a senior Computer Science major at UNC. Although, if I had known I was going to be a CS major I probably wouldn't have gone there. oh well. I didn't really choose to go to UNC, it sorta just presented itself as a possibility and things worked out. When applying for schools I focused mainly on public universities because my parents couldn't afford to send me to a private institution. They worked at Rutgers University so I could have gotten free tuition but I wisely chose against it. Even to this day I'm glad I didn't attend Rutgers. Not because it is somewhat less prestigious than UNC, but because it's so damn close to home. I could walk there in 15 minutes. That's why I can't understand how Chapel Hill kids can still come here. Well I can understand it since they get insanely low tuition at a quality university. But still, I think I'd go crazy.

There's more to UNC than it's dominating sports teams, 60:40 girl-guy ratio, or it's historical significance (as the first public school in the nation). UNC offers the best possible study environment for a student. Chapel Hill, as a town, sux. And I'm being kind when I say that. North Carolina as a state isn't much better. (I like cities) But, for me at least, the calm setting, and colorful campus puts me in the right mood to study. If I were in a city atmosphere I'd probably be either too stressed out or having too much fun to study well. So, although I have no plans to remain in North Carolina for future employment after graduation, I'm very grateful to be here now.
