As We Wait
No one is just going to reach down and tell you
Though you are listening awful closely
To a sound so silent
I find myself tone-deaf
With an ear listening to only that which it desires
And a mouth that makes up for the rest
Beliefs swarm madly around this world
Unhesitant to reveal themselves
With a venom that can injure
I find myself allergic
To that power that rests purely on faith
Realizing the immortality of such stinging truth
There are those who wait out
time
Who have all the patience of a worn-out child
So quick to fall into that paradise of blankets
I find myself restless
Kicking off covers to feel the cool air
I close my eyes and accept what happens
