These databases allow you to search for articles from a
variety of scholarly publications, providing detailed information. They
can be all accessed from the library webpage of The University of North
Carolina. CINAHL, ERIC, and MEDLINEplus can also be accessed throught
the Chapel Hill Public Library via NC LIVE. MEDLINEplus can also be
accessed directly from the internet.
AMED (Alternative Medicine)
AMED provides citations and abstracts from multiple
biomedical journals
and many other types of documents from 1985 to the present. Information
is
compiled by the British Library Health Care Information Service. The
text is in
English, but full text is not available. AMED can be accessed through
the
library webpage of UNC.
CINAHL (Cumulative
Index to Nursing and Allied
Health)
The CINAHL database covers over 900 journals,
including both
biomedical and consumer health journals, and several other kinds of
documents.
It provides indexing from 1982 to the present, abstracting from 1986 to
the
present, and full text. It is updated monthly and can be accessed from
the
library webpage of UNC. Since CINAHL is available through NC LIVE, it
is also
available through the Chapel Hill Public Library.
ERIC (Educational
Resource Information
Center)
ERIC provides information on education and related
fields from 1966 to
the present. It includes full text information and is updated
quarterly. It can
be accessed from the library webpage of UNC. Because ERIC is accessible
via NC
LIVE, it can also be accessed through the Chapel Hill Public Library.
