Policy Recommendations

The results of the modeling analysis show that none of the control strategies already devised by North Carolina will achieve compliance with the eight-hour ozone standard. The modeling analysis does show that there needs to be a combination of aggressive control strategies for utilities and mobile sources to achieve compliance with the eight-hour standard.  The policy options listed address these sources and other factors affecting them. In order for any of these policies to be adopted, they also need to be economically, politically, and socially feasible.
