Zone Diet Debunked

Zoning Out on the New Diet Books

"I don't understand why asking people to eat a well-balanced vegetarian diet is considered drastic, while it is medically conservative to cut people open and put them on powerful cholesterol-lowering drugs for the rest of their lives."

A word of caution about the Atkins diet..
Last winter I decided to give the Atkins diet a try. I was three weeks into...my body was deep in ketosis, when suddenly I started feeling sicker and sicker...to the point where I ended up in the emergency room. To make a long story short my right kidney was compromised and as a result I may have life long problems. It has taken me almost a year to recover, in that time I gained 25 pounds, when I started the Atkins diet I only had about 10 to lose! The Atkins diet is VERY hard on your kidneys...it's not worth the risk. The best and only way, in my opinion, to loose weight and remain healthy is to maintain a low fat sensible diet and exercise. It may not be the fastest way to your "perfect body" but it's the way that's guaranteed to work. you can maintain it for a lifetime, remain healthy, even increase your overall health. Which is my goal and I suspect the goal of everyone who comes to this board. You have all been an inspiration to me in the last few weeks.....I started working out in a serious way 3 months ago, I started using Joyce Vedral's tapes about 3 weeks ago, I've lost 5 pounds and gone down to a size 12 after wearing a size 14 for the first and last time in my life! When I started the Atkins diet I was still wearing a size 8, and I thought I was "fat"...HA! I hope I haven't offended anyone with my strong opinion about the Atkins Diet.... Stay healthy and keep working out!
