I enjoyed the class. Lectures were good and easy to understand. Only thing is I felt rushed during the exams but there is not much that can be done about that. I think the exams would be better if you broke the long problems up into multiple parts so one does not miss the entire problem if they screw up the first step.
Excellent class. Fast paced and extremely interesting. Dont change.
Very effective teacher. I like his style of teaching. I like that he tells jokes once in a while. Most Math professors don''t. I think he can teach any math course here at Ga tech. Just needs to do more examples outside the book so the students can have better understanding of the material. But overall, he is very good. Vikas Darji
This was a very difficult course but it was taught in a very understandable manner and I can surely see how the material will be useful in the future. The lecture was very good, the best I''ve had at Tech, but the lack of a TA for the course made parts of the class tough. There were often times on the hw were I felt completely at wits end after starring for hours I felt like I could not go to office hours b/c questions about the hw were off limits. In the end I did figure most of these problems out or consulted another student for help and this forced me to think and learn but the stress was pretty intense at times. Overall, I''m very glad to have taken the class and glad that I was challenged even though it about killed me at times....come to think of it that''s the way I feel about Georgia Tech in general. Anyhow, thanks for putting together a well taught course, it made 4000 level mathematics possible for me to learn.
Very hard class and a challenge, but overall a very good teacher. Probably the hardest class I''ve ever taken.
Jason was a very effective teacher, very approachable, and I thought he did a great job making the content applicable.
This is a great class. I''ll admit that I was skeptical of your teaching ability when I learned that you were not a professor, but my worries were very quickly assuaged in the first weak. You are an excellent teacher. You explain complex material with great clarity and confidence. I think it is your youth, in fact, that allows you to better relate with your students since it wasn''t all that long ago that you learned this material and can still remember the difficulties and pitfalls that lie along the way. All in all, I would say this was an easy class, but I don''t think that''s because you made it too easy (with the exception of the tests, see below); I simply think the material is just that easy, especially since this is a computational class that focuses less on theory. As for the tests, I must say I think they were simply too easy. Granted I have some experience with this material so my opinion is slightly misrepresentative, but I think there was a lot more depth to the subjects that could have been probed through testing. But heck, I can''t complain about that and I feel that I learned a great deal about how to actually solve various types of PDEs so the class was a success, for me at least. Thanks for doing a great job and good luck with your future endeavors. And don''t ever stop teaching! You have a gift for it.
Overall, I thought you did a very good job teaching this course. You always presented everything very clearly, and your lectures were well organized. I appreciated your treatment of Bessel''s and LeGendre''s equations. I had seen these before, but every other treatment I had seen was either made things seem too complicated or was not complete enough (just told you what the solutions were). It wasn''t until this class that everything made sense concerning these equations. One thing you did a lot that I didn''t particularly like was say things like ''last chance for questions.'' Student questions should be a very important part of lectures, and there shouldn''t be any time during lectures that is closed to questions. I realize that you probably wouldn''t have turned down student questions, but still by saying ''last chance...'', you give the (very subtle) impression that questions might not be welcome.
