| The 2001 Fall Semester has been my first semester working with Carolina Week, a student news program at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I have done videography, editing, writing, reporting, floor directing, and many more tasks while working on the show's staff. Below I have included links to different peices that I worked on. | This is a package I worked on for Carolina Week, and it aired on October 31, 2001. Of all the pieces I have worked on, this is my favorite. The volleyball team members and the coach were great to interview, and it's the first piece where I was on camera, rather than just hearing the anchors read my story while the video played. | |
| Carolina Men's Soccer vs. UNC-Greensboro | I assisted in shooting this piece soon after the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on the U.S., so the story is more than a basic sports story. The men's soccer team had chosen to begin wearing red, white, and blue bands on their arms, and we discussed the role of sports in the nation following the attacks. This pieced aired on the September 19, 2001 edition of Carolina Week. |
| Carolina Women's Basketball vs. Evansville | My most recent piece aired on November 13, 2001. I shot the video at Carmichael Auditorium when the UNC-Chapel Women's Basketball team took on the Evansville Purple Aces. Carolina won by nearly 20 points, which made the assignment more fun to work on. The lighting in the gym is not spectacular, and there is not room for a tripod, but the video turned out well. |

I have been the floor director at Carolina Week almost the entire semester. This job entails getting people set up where they belong in the studio, from the camera people to the anchors. Directing weather invloves using the chroma-key screen and switching between several cameras. The Weather reporter, Kelly Mahoney, does a great job, but I have included a piece when the directer, graphics personnel, weather reporter and I all worked together particularly well to make it run smoothly. This piece aired on Wednesday, October 17, 2001. |
