A WINDOW INTO
MARGAUX'S WORLD

My name is Margaux Lynn. I am a senior at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I am a Journalism major with a sequence in Advertising and a concentration in Studio Art. This page was created for my JOMC 50 class. Just so you know, I would rather be sailing than building this webpage.

HOT SPOTS TO VISIT
when surfing the net

When I am surfing the net, I always stop by North Atlantic Surf to see their newest designs.  North Atlantic  Surf is a site for watersport lovers. They have every piece of equipment needed to have fun on the water.  If  you can't find anything you like, they will gladly custom design the board for you.  (that is one of the things  on my wish list!)

Stop by Sailing World if you'd rather the wind power your boat than fossil fuels! Sailing is a great sport that is environmentally safe and a challenge.  This site informs sailors of  what's happening on the water; the newest boats, the best boats, techniques of sailing,  regatta reports, adventure stories,  and much more.

Once you have your board or your boat, you have to know where the wind and the waves are. The Southern North Carolina Surf  Page has the marine report for NC's beaches and water ways. Find out the tide schedule, wind direction, advisories, up dates on storms, wave height, currents, buoy locations and more. Also See the sea for yourself on the Surf Cam.

During the school year I spend time on Jordan Lake with the UNC-CH Sailing Team. We compete against other colleges in the SAISA conference. Check out our website, it has photos and stats on our regattas and team info.  I took this photo on our fall break trip to the Outer Banks of NC.  I'm in the dingy being pulled by the boat. We charted the WINDWARD from Oriental, NC. It was a 45' Saber.

Sick of my ramblings of water sports? I recomend Florence, Italy as another escape. The beautiful Tuscan City of Firenze has much to offer anyone interested in art, history, archietecture, and food. After spending a semester abroad in Florence, I realize how fast paced American life really is. The Italians live a relaxed and simple life. If only I could get them speak a little slower. For more information on Firenze visit the offical website. It is packed full of information on the culture, geography, history, art, tourist sites, and travel information. You can email me as well if you plan on taking a trip and I'll tell you some of my Tuscan favorites. One that you can enjoy in the States is the Chianti Wines of Tuscany.
