Agnes De Mille

I was interested in being familiar with famous United States Choreographers such as Agnes de Mille because I am a choreographer also. I choreographed and performed a modern dance piece for UNC dance group Blank Canvas. The only thing I know thus far about Agnes de Mille is that she was a notable American Choreographer who choreographed and performed dance movements in many Broadway Musical such as "Oklahoma." She is the niece of film director Cecil B. DeMille. She was criticized for being a dancer because she did not fit the physical profile of most dancers, which was petite with long legs. I admire her for overcoming her obstacles and becoming a dancing legend.
I am curious about how Agnes DeMille started off as a choreographer. So main question I am concerned with is how did she begin her career? What was the main style of dance that she performed? What were her inspirations and motivations for her work? Also, how did she handle the critics' comments about her physical features?
My intended audience would be anyone interested in the development of modern dance and some of its founders. Readers of art and entertainment would enjoy learning about the life and work of Agnes DeMille. I think my topic could interest professional dancers and choreographers as well as anyone who loves dancing and music.

Internet Posts Sex Offenders on the Web (TOPIC AREA: Net controversy)

Key parts of legislation were eliminated on April 26, 2001 that would make it easier for the people using the Internet to identify sex offenders. Currently, the state requires the Internet identifications of only violent sexual predators. Many state officials believe that the Internet bill should include the names, photos, and descriptions of anyone with two of more offenses of unlawful sexual behavior

Under House Bill 1155, the list would have been expanded to include the names of adults convicted of two or more offenses involving unlawful sexual behavior, as well as those who failed to register locally as sex offenders. (1) However, Senator Ken Gordon of Colorado erased those provisions of the bill. Gordon feared that the bill would cover too many people on the net.

The Bill received approval from the Colorado Coalition Against Sexual Assault, the Colorado District Attorneys Council and others. "I think it would be more humane just to shoot them," Gordon said, referring to putting former offenders' names, photos, addresses and places of work on the Internet. "I think it's the end of their life in the community." (1) Even though the bill is stripped of most of its provisions it will still provide information about sex offenders to protect those using the Internet.
