Access XP/2000: Queries I
Query - a way of asking questions about data stored in tables. That definiation seems pretty self-explanatory but I don't understand Access at all beyond creating tables. Is creating a query and a relationship the same concept. The most common query is a select query. Another type of query is an action query. Action queries can be sued to delete duplicate records in a table or move records to another table (usually result in some kind of change to a table). Queries make it easy to combine two or more table fields into a single file. What is the difference between developing relationships between tables and joining tables using the query design window? I understood how to establish a sort order only because you perform the sort order in Access the same way itis done in Excel. Finally, I reached the endof the queries handbook, and I filtering the data seems to be the simpliest thing I ahve read thus far. I hope I can figure out the Access assignment, it is not looking good.

Forms
I don't understand forms. I mean I sort of understood how you can view tables and queries one record at a time and how can you open a table and go to autoform and choose the different form you want to use. The drop-down list you can create seems like a ready nice feature but how do you feature out how to use this feature. What is a switchboard???

Reports
I have created reports in the past using Access to make mailing labels. Creating labels was really easy using Access. I also exported the address book I created in Access into Word and created form letters. It worked nicely. You can also use reports to create invoices, receipts, sale summaries and phone books. You can not make changes to your report in the preview view but only in the design view. The design view will also allow you to see how the report will look put together and to change its formatting. I read that it is important to understand the structure of reports before designing your own reports. Since I don't understand reports, I will probably always be forced to use the report wizard.
