going home

Made the drive home today to visit my parents, my nieces, my best friend. I always come back exhausted. Too much to reconcile when I make that drive: how different my life is now from the life I thought I would have when I was growing up, how much I don't know about my future, how much I wish I could change certain pieces of my life and the lives of those around me. It's too short of a drive for such lengthy thoughts, so I always arrive in a state of flux.

Apart from all that, I enjoyed my afternoon movie: The Village. I know many people haven't liked it but I thought it was quite good. M. Night always makes you think. The average person doesn't actually like to think about his entertainment, so I can understand the bad reviews. Don't get me wrong, I like mindless entertainment - The Phantom? great bad movie - but sometimes it's good to have a challenge up there on the movie screen. There's a reason for everything in each of his movies. Wonder if life is like that, too.
