proof positive

How's this for random. I got an email today from a journal editor I met at a conference in Atlanta last March. Someone introduced us there; I expressed interest in reviewing for his journal; he took my contact info and said he'd be in touch. He wasn't but I can't say as I thought anything about it, being fully cognizant of my place in the universe at the moment. Then, today comes an exceptionally nice email saying that he'd misplaced his materials from the conference, he came across them recently, and he wondered if I was still interested in serving as a reviewer. Hell yeah!

Besides the amazement that someone would follow up on an email address jotted down on a scrap of paper ten months ago, I'm struck by a simple truth: it's all in who you know.
