Where to Find Racing Information on Your Greyhound

There are a few places on the Internet that you can look to find racing information on your greyhound.

Greyhound Data
The largest free site is Greyhound Data. Put your greyhound's racing name in the Search box at the top right. If your dog is in the database, a screen will come up with that dog's pedigree. If there are race results linked to the dog's profile, you will see a link near the top left of the screen with the number of races represented there. Clicking the link will take you to the race information on the site. If you don't see your dog's pedigree in the database, email Martin Roper at Greyhound Data to have it added.

Here is an example of a pedigree. Note the link that says "141 races" on the top left. This is what the race information looks like for that dog in the Default View. That view is commonly known in racing as performance lines - it contains just the results for that one dog in each race in which it competed. The format is a bit different than the printed results many racetracks also post on their web sites, but includes the most crucial information on the performance of that hound.

Selecting the link at the top of the information page that says "full" will give you this view. This view is known as a racing chart. Each block represents one race, and includes the names and race information on every dog in that race. Again, the format is a bit different than the printed charts posted to many tracks' sites.

GreyMatter
GreyMatter is a free service provided by TrackInfo, a company that provides data collection services to some race tracks. You can view your dog's performance lines by selecting the Dog/Raceline Viewer and entering either the dog's full racing name or the left ear tattoo. Whether you find your dog in this database depends on whether TrackInfo provides data collection to on which your dog ran.

TrackInfo also provides racing results on the GreyMatter site for its member tracks.

Track Websites
If your dog is recently retired, you may be able to find performance lines, charts, and even race videos on the website(s) of the track(s) your dog raced at. The National Greyhound Association maintains a web page with links to U.S. tracks that have sites. Simply select the link for the track you wish to view.

Google
If no race information appears on Greyhound Data, and your dog raced
after the mid 1990s, you can try entering your dog's name in the seach engine Google to see if there are any race results available. Be sure to include the dog's name in quotes and if it is a common phrase or other word that might bring up a lot of unrelated hits, adding the word 'greyhound' or 'track' to the search box outside the quoted name can help. There may be some older race information like this still on the Internet.

How to Read Performance Lines and Race Charts

If you have race results or performance lines from the track(s) your dog ran at, information on how to read a racing chart is available here, and a discussion on how to read performance lines is here. Need help figuring out that two-letter abbreviation which indicates which track your dog was at? Go to the track abbreviations page at Greyhound Racing.com. There's lots of other good information about greyhound racing there under the Racing Basics link too.
