Books and Magazines
NOTE: The books I've listed here are all intended for people who are thinking about adopting a hound or who have just adopted their first one. Many of them contain resources for further reading on more specific topics like racing and lure coursing.
- Celebrating Greyhounds Magazine
The Greyhound Project, an organization
which supports greyhound adoption through fundraising and education,
publishes a quarterly magazine called Celebrating
Greyhounds. In addition, they put out a yearly calendar, also called
Celebrating Greyhounds, to raise funds for their efforts, which include
providing donations to the Morris
Animal Foundation for canine cancer research. Celebrating Greyhounds
is a wonderful full-color magazine containing a wealth of
information about greyhound history, health, behavior and other topics.

Message Boards and Email Listservs
General Interest Greyhound Message Boards
- Greytalk
Greytalk is a large message board for all people who are interested in greyhounds as pets. Topics include training, diet, health issues and general topic discussions. You must register to participate in discussions. Registration is free, but donations are accepted and appreciated.
- Greyhounds Make Great Pets
This is another free general interest message board for greyhound lovers. Includes general discussion, greyhound news, transport information and more.
In addition to these national resources, local adoption groups often have their own message boards. Check out the web site of your local adoption group to see if this is true for your group.
Racing Related Message Boards
- Greyhound Data
This forum, which also requires free membership (click the Login button at the top left of the screen), is fairly new. Greyhound Data started off as a small pedigree database run by two greyhound racing fans in Germany. Entering your dog's racing name in the Search box on Greyhound Data home page will take you to his or her pedigree. This is an example of the pedigree that is on the site for our old hound
Roman, whose racing name was Ragnar. If you don't see your dog's pedigree in the database, email Martin Roper at Greyhound Data to have it added.
- American Greyhounds II
This is a newer message board that is dedicated to discussion of greyhound racing and is fairly active. There are also forums dedicated to gambling and to other sports.
Email Listservs
If you prefer to participate in an email list instead of a message board, there are many lists available, most of them focused on either a particular geographic area or on a specific greyhound topic, such as raw feeding, cancer, or senior hounds. Most of them are also Yahoo Group listservs, which means you will need a Yahoo ID to join the group. If you don't have one, use the Sign Up link at the top of the group page, and when you are finished with your registration you can use the Join This Group link on the group's main web page to join the group. Many Yahoo Groups also use their companion web sites to post photos and documents of general interest.
- Greyhound Pets
Greyhound Pets is a general email listserv that discusses topics of interest to greyhound pet owners. It is pet-related only.
- CircleofGrey
CircleofGrey was founded to specifically offer help and support to people whose greyhounds suffer from cancer.
-
NaturallyGrey
NaturallyGrey focuses on the feeding of raw diets to greyhounds.
