Items for Humans and Hounds
One of the most comprehensive sites you can go to for "everything
greyhound" is the Greyhound
Shopping Mall. The
Mall has tons of sources for coats, feeding dishes, leashes and collars,
supplements, books and videos, and many other things, including greyhound-related
items for humans. I have used some of the sites listed here, but many
others I have not, so I cannot vouch for the quality of the items
or the service. As always, let the buyer beware.
Sitstay.com is
a online pet supply store, offering the better quality treats, equipment
and items for humans. I have ordered Premier brand collars,
harnesses,
and leashes
from them.
Revival Animal
Health and KV Vet are places I frequently order supplements and first aid
supplies from for all my hounds. I have found their prices and shipping to be quite reasonable in comparison to other online/catalog
firms.
Care-A-Lot
is a warehouse-type pet store located in Virginia Beach, VA. When
I used to live in that city, I visited frequently. Their prices are
usually quite good and the shipping is very reasonable and efficient.
They also give volume discounts.
The NGA
Greyhound Store is a good place to buy equipment and videos that
are especially for greyhounds (see more info about the NGA here).
I have ordered muzzles, videotapes and books from them. You can also
get a pet
transfer slip and certificate from them, to officially transfer
ownership of your greyhound from his or her racing owner to you. Five-generation
pedigrees, signed by the keeper of the NGA Studbook, are available
as well.
Affiliated with the NGA is the Greyhound
Hall of Fame, located in Abilene, Kansas. Their web site not only
includes information about the Hall and their inductees, but also
has a shop full of lovely and unique greyhound items that you can
order online.
Greyhound License Plates
If
you'd like to have a real license plate for your car, Virginia, Pennsylvania and Colorado have them.
This Virginia link will take you to the "Supporter of Greyhound
Adoption" plate on the Virginia DMV website - if you are interested
in getting them, you can even order them online (though since these
are real license plates, remember you have to live in the issuing
state in order to get them). Virginia also sells sample plates, if
you'd rather just have for one display purposes.

The Pennsylvania plate works differently - the link is to an email address for
the National Greyhound Adoption Program in Philadelphia. You have
to apply for a plate through them. If you'd rather call to have the
application mailed to you, call 1-215-331-7918 if you live in the
Philly area, or 1-800-348-2517 for other parts of the state.

The Colorado link will take you to the Colorado DMV site - select Greyhound Lovers from the list to see a picture of the plate along with cost and eligibility requirements
- you must apply at your local DMV for one.

There
is also a University
of Indianapolis alumni plate with their greyhound mascot on it -
anyone in Indiana can order one.
