Golden Week HolidayComing Soon!

Spring Festival, the Festival that celebrates New years in China takes place durring the month of Febuary. This year will be the year of the Rooster. I will update this section next week some time, but here is a sneak peek for now.

Winter in Hangzhou- Winter has hit in Hangzhou and the leaves have gone from green to gold to absent. It has been snowing for the past three days and the roads are now a collection of ice and snow. This makes getting to and from school everyday even more difficult. The children are loving it, though. They run outside and build snowmen and get in snowball fights and hubble back inside cold and wet.

It was recently National Day in China, China's Independence Day. Everyone has a week off (but they have to work weekends afterwards to make up for the lost days). Durring my holiday I traveled to LouYang with Carrie. CHECK OUT OUR TRIP

My toughest classes are the younger kids, sometimes I feel like I am not getting through to them. Well, the other day I show up to one of their classes early and sit with them while they eat. This one child is not eating just waving his corn in the air. He keeps looking at me and smiling, eventually he looks at his corn then looks at me, holds the corn over his head and yells, "YELLOW". He kept yelling "YELLOW" over and over again, he was happy and I was loving it.

Hello everyone!! I have decided to teach kindergarten in China for the following school year. I am staying in a town called Hangzhou, it is very beautiful and is the home of WestLake. WestLake I have learned is one of the great attractions in all of China. Its is a very famous and historic landmark and I could sit there and look at the water all day. Hangzhou is a pretty big town and there are lots of things to do. My kindergarten is the coolest kindergarten I have ever seen. There is an entire wall that is made of a fish tank, there are pineapple trees as columns, fish and monkeys all over the wall. They even have an entire room full of little balls for the kids to jump in (like at some McDonalds). I have met some really cool and interesting people since arriving here, but I do miss my family.

Highlights of My Trip So Far

1. The 18 hour flight to Shanghaii- longest plane ride of my life.

2. Seeing WestLake for the first time durring the day and later at night.

3. Having one of my kindergartners read her first word- DOG.

4. Meeting new friends- Alicia, Hill, Shelly, Ken.

5. Eating a baby Octopus (the whole thing) my first night in Hangzhou.
