How To Plan A Trip To Greece

Section I:

I chose this topic because the greatest experience I have had was a trip to Greece I took in the summer of 2000. Having spent a month in the country already, I know much of its history, geography, and its colorful people. I also had the misfortune of falling ill with E. coli and spending a week in a Greek hospital.

What I am really looking to discover in this search is how best to plan my next trip to Greece. The last one was a summer abroad program that was planned for me, but I hope to plan my own trip using my previous knowledge of the country and that which I gain here in the treasure hunt.

My intended audience is people who are looking for the vacation of a lifetime, and who would like to plan it for themselves. There is so much that you can get out of a trip to Greece if you know what you are doing and make the most of your time. I would also like to show everyone that traveling to Greece can be made very inexpensive if you know the right hotels to stay in and the right places to eat and shop.

Internet Scams Reach a New Low

Reports have emerged during the past week warning internet users of scam artists who could be trying to profit from the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center and Pentagon. Numbers of legitimate web sites have established links to a Red Cross fund-raising site where donations can be made, such as Amazon.com and Yahoo (1).

The day after the attack, an Oregon e-commerce company shut down a web site run by a Chinese firm, claiming to raise money for families of the victims killed. After a number of suspicious activities, it was decided they were most likely attempting to profit from the devastation with no intention to live up to their promises (1).

Internet scams have been a major problem since the first scam artists got online. The Federal Trade Commission is in charge of protecting Internet users from this type of deception. Almost a year ago, the FTC published its first list of top Internet scams to avoid and announced its dedication to stopping these crimes. This list included Internet auctions, travel and vacation, credit card fraud, investments, and more (2).

While the FTC and other agencies may succeed in significantly reducing the number and effects of Internet scams, it is unlikely that they will ever end the threat of scam artists to the Internet community.
