About Ruth McKinney

Ruth Ann McKinney, the author, is a Clinical Professor of Law and director of the Writing and Learning Resources Center at the University of North Carolina Law School. Professor McKinney clerked at the North Carolina Supreme Court upon graduating from law school at UNC and was an associate in the litigation division of Maxwell & Hutson in Durham, North Carolina. In addition to directing the first-year Writing Program, Professor McKinney directs the Legal Education Advancement Program and maintains research interest in legal pedagogy, particularly concerning ways students can maximize achievement in legal education.
