UNC Health Care System
November 7, 2003, by Charlene Wong

UNC Hospitals opened in September 1952 under the name N.C. Memorial Hospital. In 1989, the N.C. General Assembly created the UNC Hospital system. Today this system includes the North Carolina Children's Hospital, the North Carolina Women's Hospital, the North Carolina Memorial Hospital, and the North Carolina Neurosciences Hospital. With the help of the offices of Mary Beck and Mary Rose Tully, the students of the American Studies 94 Lab were able to get behind closed doors and see all the great services that the hospital provides for the citizens of North Carolina.
