The Role of Sports at UNC

At a university where "Carolina" Blue, the number 23, and "Air Jordan" are synonymous with the University of North Carolina, the role of athletics cannot be disputed. From the revenue-producing football and basketball teams, to the olympic sports, Title IX, and even intramural and club teams, the role of athletics at any university helps to market the school and instill a sense of community among team members, students and faculty, and most of all, fans.The American Studies 94 Field Lab visited Kenan Stadium and the Dean Dome, speaking with coaches and administrators about the role of sports at UNC and in higher education.
