LIONFLOWER:

If someone will ward the door, we can get started.

Door ward volunteer?

psycowitch:

LIONFLOWER:

That's fine with me, psycho

psycowitch:

LIONFLOWER:

Please don't talk to people when the come in the room. Someone snag them in IM and let em know what's going on.

Tonight's class is about Your Tools, Symbols, and Spells, and it's hostessed by me. :)

Can someone log on in case my stuff gets messed up?

psycowitch:

tell them about excluding lion {EG} if i'm gonna door ward i need the rules

LIONFLOWER:

Thanks, meli. Appreciate it.

When someone comes in the room, and they harass or otherwise disrupt,

EXCLUDE without comment.

If you're going to call them a jerk or whatever do it in IM please.

Elenya:

{----logging, Lion

LIONFLOWER:

Thanks, Elenya

psycowitch:

i get to call exclude on them right lion {G}

Herne:

LIONFLOWER:

Yes, Ma'am, you do.

psycowitch:

Herne:

OH MY

Azrael:

Ah! I see, lionflower got booted.

Herne:

What timing

moonstone:

what's going on?

Azrael:

and I quote "Now, without further delay," {G} :)

KelticMist:

maybe that was tempting fate {s}

Herne:

we are waiting to see if Lionflower can get back on, lets give her a few

KelticMist:

yes it usually takes a few tries

LIONFLOWER:

Hell of a way to begin my last 101 class.

Sorry, guys, I got booted.

Herne:

why your last?

Azrael:

Welcome back lion :)

psycowitch:

that's ok lion we excluded you {EG}

LIONFLOWER:

Thanks. :)

LOL, psycho!!!!!!

Did my first macro go through?

Azrael:

no

LIONFLOWER:

okay.

psycowitch:

nope lion no macro

LIONFLOWER:

How long were you guys quiet before you realized I was gone?

Herne:

I figured it out first

KelticMist:

hey we catch on Lion, not too long lol

psycowitch:

2 seconds

Azrael:

The entire time Lion, we never said a word {EG}

LIONFLOWER:

LOL

just wondering.

LOL Az

KelticMist:

{-------hands folded in lap

LIONFLOWER:

Okay, okay. I'm spilling my beer. NO fair

KelticMist:

{-----sitting up straight

LIONFLOWER:

Here we go again... keep fingers crossed.

This is a class about spells. This is a class about tools. This is a class about symbols. This is a class that will teach you how to use all of these things properly. I will provide a list of text references at the end of class for your further research and study.

Herne:

eyes too

LIONFLOWER:

I will pause for questions between each section. Please keep questions pertinent to the subject material. I would be delighted to discuss other questions with you after class is over.

Because our tools are the things we are most familiar with, let's start with them. Then we will move onto symbols and briefly discuss them. We will then tie everything together at the end using our tools and symbols to create spells. (I have a feeling that this class is going to be a lot like teaching a lion to like red meat to most of you! {g}) You will see examples of spells throughout the class, and they should help you formulate your own spells.

Tools of a Witch

Everyone in this class probably knows the basic tools of a witch: the wand, the athame (ah-thaw-may), the cup, the censer (incense burner) and incense, the pentacle, candles, salt, broom and cauldron.

You might use a staff, you might not use a broom, you might use an athame instead of a wand, or a wand instead of an athame. You might not have all of your tools, yet. That's okay. Some of the basic tools listed can be used in place of others.

Herne:

you forgot the skull

LIONFLOWER:

Let's begin to learn about your wand. The most important thing is to understand the tools you are using and why you are using that particular tool. WAND - element of air, east, swift change, used to direct energy, circle casting. If I wanted to bring swift change into my life I would direct my spell energy through my wand. I could dance around my sacred space chanting and raising energy for a money spell and I hold my wand in my hand. Then at the peak of power-raising I would stop, face east, and direct all of the energy I raised through my wand, sending it out so my will is done. Hold your wand, caress it. Learn its secret name (all tools have a name). Appreciate it, tell it silently that it is your tool, and you are a tool of the gods, and therefore it is a tool of the gods, symbolizing the air, air we breathe, air that moves seeds, wind that brings change,

delivers messages, erodes the mountains. Understand your wand and what it means to use it.

Herne:

LOL

LIONFLOWER:

Herne, that is the third comment during class. Do you have something you would like to say?

Herne:

THE SEXUAL CONNOTATIONS ARE FUNNY

LIONFLOWER:

Now let's learn about your athame. ATHAME - symbolizes fire, south, protection and strength, male-ness, used for circle casting, directing energy, circle opening, defense. If I need to feel strong, I grab a hold of the handle of my athame. The athame is used in the same manner as the wand for directing energy. The difference is, the athame may also be used to defend your life. Your athame differs from your wand in the fact that it symbolizes the element of fire. Fire... what about the element of fire? Warmth of the family hearth. Destruction of a forest, but destruction that brings new life. Hot burning passion. Fire can also bring about change quickly and violently. Or, it can be the slow, smoldering, long-lasting qualities of a well-banked fire. The way you use your athame is up to you. Direct the energy flowing through you and your knife while facing the direction of south.

Dream Rede:

Fire brings cleansing.

LIONFLOWER:

CUP - water, west, womb, emotion, change, cycles of the tides, fertility, new beginnings, Herself. Used to hold water and placed on the Goddess side of your altar, for it can represent the Goddess. The cup on the altar holds the water of life, and symbolizes the oceans, streams, and lakes of the earth. It also represents the womb of the Goddess from Whom all life and all things came into being. It's not something to take lightly. Fill it with rain water. Let your eyes go bleary as you look into the depths of the universe by candle light. You can learn many things this way, even about yourself. A woman wanting to get pregnant would use her cup in a fertility spell. She could take a bit of salt (symbolizing earth, or semen in this case), charge it, and let it fall into the cup along with her desire to have a child. Then let the water from the cup fall upon the earth during a waxing moon. When considering your cup, feel the tides of the oceans, the building up of energy, the repetitiveness of the waves crashing up on the beach. All of this dwells within your cup, the pulling and subsiding of the waters, the energy of creation.

Herne:

the underworld lake

LIONFLOWER:

PENTACLE - (this is the flat disc inscribed with a pentagram that should be a part of your altar furniture) symbolizes earth, stability, long-lasting effects, firm decisions, animals, plants, used to ground energy and keep items on the altar that aren't part of the usual altar furniture. The pentacle is the tool of the witch that separates us from other magick workers like shamans and ceremonial magicians. The pentacle isn't the symbol you wear on a chain around your neck (that's a pentagram), a pentacle is a round, flat dish that has a pentagram inscribed upon the top of it. It is representative of the earth element. Not the polluted, fenced, abused thing we live upon, but the earth as the Goddess intended. It is pure. You place things upon the pentacle that you are going to use in your spells, like herbs, stones, thread, cloth, etc. The pentacle is firm, it is unyielding, it is steady and strong and silent. It is the pent-up energy of Teutonic plates pushing against each other, and that is sometimes released in earthquakes or tremors. It is sometimes Pele's molten rage. It is suppressed emotions waiting to come out. It is your mother who is always there for you, safe and reliable.

Meditate upon other tools using the same patterns I used above. Understand the tools, learn their names. I'm not going to go into all of the tools because class is only supposed to be an hour long! {g}. If, after meditation and contemplation, you can't figure out one of your tools, put it aside until you can, and don't use it.

Any questions so far?

Sylverhare:

Just a comment, I use the Athame for east, air, and the wand for south fire, just a holdover from reading Tarot and it works better for me

LIONFLOWER:

{g}

Yep, Sylver, that would be under the category of "whatever works for you". I'm sure you're not the only one in this room, either. :)

Herne:

I use N for fire

VvWarloCvV:

Umm what is a scourge? What is a stang?

LIONFLOWER:

scourge? I have really no idea, but I'm sure I could find out for you.

Herne:

Stang is staff, scourge is what Harderner used to get an erection

LIONFLOWER:

Thanks, Herne... always informative.

Gaia:

I just want to apologize for interrupting. I didn't realize there was a class going on.

KelticMist:

Lionflower, what is the difference between the Athame and the Bolline?

Shariah:

Scourge - a whip

LIONFLOWER:

Keltic, your athame is your witch's knife. It's what you use to direct energy. A Boleen or bolline is used for cutting herbs and other utility chores.

Herne:

Gardnerians use the scourge and B & D to raise power

VvWarloCvV:

A bolline is used to inscribe or engrave things.

KelticMist:

must it have a white handle?

Herne:

Bolline is the white handled knife, used for actual cutting, etc

yes

KelticMist:

can your athame have a white handle or wood?

Shariah:

Doesn't the athame usually have a black handle ?

KelticMist:

so the Bolline can be used to carve on a candle, like a rune marking?

Lilyhawk:

My athame has a wooden handle, dark but not black...

Herne:

try ebony or stain a lighter wood darker

KelticMist:

does the size matter? of the athame and bolline I mean

Herne:

yes, less than 12 feet is preferable

KelticMist:

lol, I knew you'd have a comment about that

Lilyhawk:

giggle, Herne

Herne:

Lion got booted

Shariah:

12 feet would make an impressive ritual ...

Herne:

:}

KelticMist:

well anyway should one be larger than the other

Sylverhare:

especially a GR

psycowitch:

'tis not the size of your athame but how you use it

Lilyhawk:

eek, Sylver!

Herne:

We have a Lanssknect lopper, 6 ft

Sylverhare:

lol

Shariah:

I have heard that comment about size someplace else ...

KelticMist:

sounds familiar {G} I don't mean to ask so many questions but I really do want to know

Herne:

whatever size is comfortable, you can have an needle for an athame, a thimble for a chalice

psycowitch:

and always remember if a man is giving you the size divide by three first

Shariah:

Questions are okay - - - that is the only way you'll learn

Lilyhawk:

that would be cute, Herne...

lol, psy...

Sylverhare:

some trads teach that they should be a cubit long, or ell for you European folk, tip of fingers to tip of elbows for the wand,

Herne:

Dull the point and edge of your athame, never cut anything with it

KelticMist:

thank you everyone, oh all right, I didn't know that

Shariah:

Athame cuts imaginary openings

Musashii:

{... disagrees with dull Athame

Herne:

in circle work, even alone athames can make for bad accidents

KelticMist:

well I have a very old small knife that belonged to my father when he was a boy, has a wooden handle and a wooden sheath, can that be a athame?

Sylverhare:

Athame should be as sharp as your wits, in Herne's case he dulls it{G}

KelticMist:

should I do a cleansing ritual?

Lilyhawk:

My athame was also my fathers, Keltic, and has a sheath. It is probably special to you, as mine is, and that makes a perfect athame.

Sylverhare:

sorry Herne it was too good an opening

psycowitch:

please keep all rude comments in im until class is over

KelticMist:

oh good, it is special to me, thanks Lily

Lilyhawk:

I did a consecration rite on mine, but not a cleansing, as I WANTED the energies within it...

LIONFLOWER:

They say three times is the charm...

Herne:

you must not have one then Sylverhare :}

LIONFLOWER:

Hi, guys, I'm back... AGAIN

Lilyhawk:

mm, lion.

LIONFLOWER:

Sorry, I don't know why I keep getting booted.

psycowitch:

oh lion i missed yousooooooooooooooooo

Herne:

Tes Keltic Myst, and consecrate it also

Yes

Shariah:

MM Lion - it is not your fault

LIONFLOWER:

LOL, I missed you too, psycho. {kiss}

psycowitch:

they was being mean to me while you were gone

Chat Host:

probably for the same reason I keep getting booted Lion

psycowitch:

and i liked it

LIONFLOWER:

probably, Morrigan, we didn't do our protection spells before we got on tonight. {g}

Azrael:

CHATs get booted?

LIONFLOWER:

I knew you would, meli.

Chat Host:

evidently so Azrael.

Herne:

sure, P is an equal opportunity booter

psycowitch:

ok is class back in session so

LIONFLOWER:

Now, where was I ??????

Oh,yeah, I was getting ready to jump into symbols.

Symbols

Symbols are a very personal thing. Different traditions of Wicca use different symbols in their magick depending upon their history. Some primarily use runes, some use petroglyphs, some use abbreviations or single sounds from languages like Sanskrit.

Herne:

you were telling us about your favorite undergarments

LIONFLOWER:

The important thing about symbols, especially for the solitary practitioner, isn't their history or how common or trendy they are. It's how they help us focus our thought and energy that matters.

EXCLUDING Herne.

NEVER use a symbol unless you know exactly what it means and what it is associated with. I'm not talking about symbols

psycowitch:

excluding Herne

LIONFLOWER:

you make up yourself, for those are custom to your energy and have your exact intent programmed into them.

psycowitch:

please keep all comments to or about this person in im

LIONFLOWER:

I'm talking about symbols you might find in a book, think they look cool, and take them home and apply them to a spell. Certain symbols and images, especially of ceremonial magick origin, are attuned to entities or essences that you might not want to tap. (Speaking from experience. ) I'm talking about symbols you might find in a book, think they look cool, and take them home and apply them to a spell. Certain symbols and images, especially of ceremonial magick origin, are attuned to entities or essences that you might not want to tap. (Speaking from experience. ) oops! double whammy {g} Just as it is important to know why you use a certain tool in ritual, it's just as important to know why you use a certain symbol in a spell.

Remember when we were talking about the wand, raising energy and sending it out for money? There are other ways to bring emergency funds to you without dancing around. Very simply, you could draw a green dollar sign on a piece of clean paper, focus your energy upon it as you do it, and burn it. Why would that work? Green is the color of prosperity and growth. A dollar sign is a symbol that represents money. Focus energy and need into the symbol, and therefore attune your will. Burning the paper releases the energy to the universe to bring your need to you.

Azrael:

can I ask a question now or is it a bad time?

LIONFLOWER:

It never hurts to chant something while you are drawing the symbol.

Go ahead, Azrael.

Az? Please do.

Azrael:

It might sound silly but, would the type of light you are using affect a spell? like candle, bulb, black light bulb, florescent, ultraviolet, etc...

LIONFLOWER:

Other than the fact that candle light is an actual flame, and is more natural... but then ultraviolet is pretty natural too. Interesting thought, Azrael, I'll have to contemplate it.

Does anyone know for sure?

Azrael:

Thanks for the help :)

Chat Host:

{---hasn't considered this before

snowchild:

i think candle just gets u more into it

Lilyhawk:

To me, candlelight is always best, just because it puts me in the right mood... and that helps me focus my energies better.

LIONFLOWER:

Az, give me your e-mail address after class and I'll try to find out for you.

Azrael:

ok, thanks :)

VvWarloCvV:

What about a full moons light?

Musashii:

{{ In my Trad its candles, torches , or firelight. Available sources of light to our forebears.

Chat Host:

well, the candle is a tool you use, I don't see why you can't use lighting for a tool

LIONFLOWER:

Depends upon exactly what you are casting a spell for, Warlock, you might want to do it while the moon is dark.

psycowitch:

i find fire to be a very very powerful tool

VvWarloCvV:

Well I was speaking as the moon in general.

Musashii:

As do I

Lilyhawk:

full moon light is probably the most potent, but it doesn't shed enough light to outdo the streetlights where I am...

LIONFLOWER:

War, depends on if you are doing constructive or binding magick... and I'll get into that next..... popular because they represent each aspect of life. Scott Cunningham offers many simple symbols in his. There are many books on symbols available. Some might appeal to you more than others. Runes are particularly books for you to use. We have discussed tools as symbols, and symbols that you draw. What about ordinary objects as symbols?

let's try that one again.

There are many books on symbols available. Some might appeal to you more than others. Runes are particularly popular because they represent each aspect of life. Scott Cunningham offers many simple symbols in his books for you to use. We have discussed tools as symbols, and symbols that you draw. What about ordinary objects as symbols? For the element of air, how about a feather? The smoke from your burning incense could also represent air. For fire, the charcoal burning in the censer or the flame of a candle could be your fire element. So could a handful of Dragon's Blood. Dirt, rocks, and herbs could all be symbols of earth. Animals are also of the earth. Sea shells can represent water and oceans. Look around you as you are thinking of your spell. Think about your need and what can represent the outcome of that need... a pine cone? a shell? a leaf or feather? All things can be symbols. A symbol is just something to help you focus your energy. A symbol can be a reminder of who you are.

Let's Let's construct a spell. A spell is energy that has been focused and sent out with intent to cause change. There are as many ways to cast spells as there are stars in the heavens. The key word is focus. How do we focus energy? There are many ways to focus energy. A few are: natural rhythms, symbols, personal will and concentration. How do we raise energy? A few ways are: repetition, physical motion, realization. Energy is what it's all about. We want to attune the energy to our will. This is what spell making is all about. What energy? The energy of creation, the energy that is there when you hold up your hand an inch from someone's back, and they can feel it there without you ever touching them, the energy created by the waves pounding the beach, the energy of volcanic eruption. Choose your energy. Pay attention to the factors that influence energy: time, purpose, intent, how energy is obtained, and your intent.

Azrael:

I have another question. (sorry again)

LIONFLOWER:

go right ahead, Az. :)

Azrael:

Since you're speaking of symbols and spell casting, do ordinary geometric shapes of an object (or drawn) each hold a particular significance during spell casting?

LIONFLOWER:

Do they, Az? You tell me. Do they mean something to you? That's what matters. It doesn't matter beans if I use an isosceles triangle if it means nothing to me.

Azrael:

Ok, I was just wondering if it was ever mentioned or brought up traditionally.

LIONFLOWER:

Some geo shape are commonly referred to, like a circle being feminine. An arrow pointing up could be masculine. An oval can represent birth, or the birth canal...

Azrael:

Ok, thanks very much :)

LIONFLOWER:

You bet, az.

To understand how tool, symbols, and energy work together to create a spell, let's make a spell from the ground up, now. Wait! Does anyone else have a question before we move on?

Musashii:

Triangle is the symbol for holding invoked demons within the Magick circle in some systems.

snowchild:

yes, define energy please...

LIONFLOWER:

go right ahead, snow

true, Musa

Lilyhawk:

Certain triangles represent the four elements...

LIONFLOWER:

Snow, you are talking about the energy one sends out during magick... energy is force. It is the force that causes all to be, move, change. It can be harnessed. Or were you looking for something more specific?

snowchild:

or explain a difference from energy in a physical form like when you eat?

LIONFLOWER:

I see, snow. You're mean, changing food into kinetic energy... and sending out positive energy to influence your life.

snowchild:

kind of, so it's kind of like the same energy?

psycowitch:

snow have you ever mental calmed yourself down?

LIONFLOWER:

Food turning into energy helps you sustain your life. Harnessing a "ball" of energy, charging it with your need, and sending it out to return to you is change. Causing change.

psycowitch:

mentally not mental

snowchild:

yup, but some people can't sense it or anything, so wouldn't it be different?

LIONFLOWER:

snow, some people can't sense it because they are closed to it. That doesn't mean that it doesn't still exist for them, just that they can's see or feel it.

snowchild:

i mean the energy

psycowitch:

not really the more you become familiar with it the easier it is to sense and feel

LIONFLOWER:

Anyone who has changed something about his or her life has done a spell. Anyone who has ever focused upon a goal and met that goal has done a spell.

psycowitch:

it's like air you may not sense it but cut you off from it and you will miss it

snowchild:

okay, but i was curious because when people have pain from energy being all "wierd" in the area and you change it they don't notice

LIONFLOWER:

{g} psycho

Azrael:

Are the types energy gathered through different arts different types of energy, or all they all the same thing with different names (chi, ki, psychic, magick)?

LIONFLOWER:

snow, but other people who are sensitive will notice, and there will be a change of "atmosphere" about the room.

psycowitch:

sorry lion {G}

LIONFLOWER:

Az, it's all the same thing, just used differently

No problem, psycho! Thanks for the help1

snowchild:

okay, i just wanted other opinions on it, my brother thought i was stupid when I said they were the same

LIONFLOWER:

No problem. Are you guys too worn out to go through the spell-making part? Should I quit or go on?

Lilyhawk:

go on, go on!

{G}

Musashii:

{... wants the video

snowchild:

YES!

LIONFLOWER:

LOL, Musa

Alright, let' go on... ... ... ... .....

A spell is energy that has been focused and sent out with intent to cause change. Let's construct a spell. Wait we've been here...

To understand how tool, symbols, and energy work together to create a spell, let's make a spell from the ground up, now. Let's do a home protection spell. Deciding to do the spell is the first step. By doing this you have already set the spell in motion. Here are other things you must take into consideration.

JimBob:

How does a symbol have anything to do with energy?

LIONFLOWER:

Herne has just threatened me in IM to post some garbage on the BB about me, so if you see something later don't be surprised. Enjoy it for entertainment... anyway.

Time: On what day of the week are you going to do your spell for optimum results, and which phase of the moon? For home protection, you could either do the spell while the moon is waning to banish negativity and harm, or on the waxing moon to gain protection.

Sylverhare:

What's the difference between physical energy and magickal energy, or emotional energy Lion, is there a connection?

LIONFLOWER:

Yes, Sylver, there is. Physical energy, and physical motion can be raised and generated. So can a rage.

Sylverhare:

sorry, big lag, didn't mean to interrupt

LIONFLOWER:

If you run around screaming in a rage and then send out that energy, you can cause change in your life... hopefully for the better.

No prob, Sylver.

Auntie Isha:

Yes, but Lion, should one use "anger" energy to cast a spell?

LIONFLOWER:

This is important to decide because it will influence the way you charge all of the other symbols in your spell. Do you see how complex you could get? Also, choose Tuesday to work a spell of protection. Tuesday is the day of Tir who is a protection god.

psycowitch:

"anger" energy can be very powerful and result in some very wonderful and good changes

LIONFLOWER:

Auntie, that depends on whether or not you are willing to reap the repercussions of casting a spell for harm. We as witches are not supposed to harm, but what about self defense?

psycowitch:

anger energy does not mean harm

Auntie Isha:

I would say you would use a "mirror" or reflective spell that way you are not starting anything... just sending it back

LIONFLOWER:

exactly, psycho. It could be protection or self defense that you're after. Turning the anger into productivity.

To each her own, Isha. Blessed be.

Primary Symbol: If I were creating a spell for home protection, I would start with the witches' primary symbol of protection, the pentagram. The circle around the five-pointed star, in this case, is optional... I don't want to freak the neighbors out too badly since I will be hanging this charm outside my door. Consider the pentagram's meaning - protection - including all of the elements. I want a charm that will give my home long-lasting protection, therefore I would make my pentagram out of something earthy. Remember, earth = stability, long-lasting effects. In this case, I would take a clay pot liner, cleanse it properly, and inscribe upon it a pentagram using my athame. I would use the athame because I want the intense affects of a smoldering hearth fire as the base of this charm.

Does everyone understand why so far?

Lilyhawk:

the athame is a fire symbol?

LIONFLOWER:

yes, Lily.

VvWarloCvV:

Umm shouldn't you use your bolline?

Auntie Isha:

Is this a class?

LIONFLOWER:

I wouldn't, War, since a boleen isn't much more than a consecrated utility knife.

Color: Maybe I could then paint the pentagram onto the liner. I would use brown paint because brown is the color of home protection, and earthiness.

Energy: As I am painting, I'm visualizing the purpose of the symbol, and each element within. In this way, the symbol is being charged with the need. So far I have the key symbol, the pentagram, the tool, my athame, the color, brown for home protection, and the energy, protective. All of these factors will help to focus the energy into the desired intent. I recommend using secondary and even tertiary symbols to focus even farther the intent of your spell. For instance, you could incorporate the Germanic rune Beorc into this charm. Beorc is the symbol of the Great Goddess, and protector of the home. I would use white, another color of protection. Also, I would add a protective stone that I charged to compliment the other symbols. Maybe a hematite to ground any negative energy coming my way. With every step you perform, charge the charm with your intent and purpose of the symbol. Finally, charge the entire charm as a whole. This will give you protection from all aspects you have requested, and will personalize the charm with your energy. The more work you put into your spell, the more you are going to get out of it.

psycowitch:

VvWarloCvV:

I am sure any price is well worth it.

Azrael:

well I wasn't really paying attention during the entire class, but I logged it for later study and reading :)

LIONFLOWER:

Sure, psycho, I don't mind.

Burningwolf:

great class Lion!

LIONFLOWER:

I've been working too damn hard... where's my beer? LOL

Lilyhawk:

giggle

psycowitch:

was wondering earlier when the subject of using anger energy was brought up why is anger viewed as a negative?

Burningwolf:

here have a glass of my wine, lion

LIONFLOWER:

thanks, wolfie!

Nestor:

\_/? -- just to get you started lion!

Auntie Isha:

May I answer that?

psycowitch:

yep

LIONFLOWER:

I need it... I've been working 50 + hours a week, under deadlines... no wonder my sense of humor has bailed on me!

Thanks, Nestor! LOL

Auntie Isha:

Let me state that this is just my view point

Nestor:

Ein Prost Lionflower

Auntie Isha:

When working a spell, you should draw in the energy from the elements... if one is working while angry there is a tendency to project that energy

Musashii:

Lion, We use the 4 elemental symbols placed at the 4 cardinal points on our property and then walk it like a big Circle casting. We renew it annually. Works for us.

VvWarloCvV:

toward the source of anger?

Auntie Isha:

since a spell begins in the mind... with our thoughts, we must be careful about what and how we are sending it out... that's all

psycowitch:

i understand that but what about anger is negative?

LIONFLOWER:

The elements are very good sources, Auntie. And, I agree, that if one doesn't want neg repros, one shouldn't use anger as an energy source...

Sounds great, Musa.

Musashii:

Is good

LIONFLOWER:

psycho, anger might cause you to harm, that's all, I don't think the emotion itself is that neg.

Auntie Isha:

agreed

Azrael:

actually, I've always seen anger as a good energy source during an emergency (such as being in danger), but generally, the anger seems to fulfill itself in a harmful way.

Musashii:

MP and BB all. Off to watch Sherman Oakes. Psycho don't be such a stranger!!!!!!

Lilyhawk:

Anger in and of itself is fine, but it must be grounded or dealt with in another positive way, or it can manifest itself negatively.

Nestor:

there are times ( just as responding to the bomb of the Olympics ) that anger may be sue in spell to help bring the guilty parties to justice

Auntie Isha:

a long time ago I used anger as an energy source and found myself physically ill... the spell worked, but my body paid for it for some time

psycowitch:

i look at anger as just another of my many emotions it can be used for many different things it is i who chooses the path the energy takes

Azrael:

I used energy as an energy source, things turned out a little more drastically than I'd wanted, but it worked.

1st energy = anger

psycowitch:

but what if someone who is deliriously happy at the thought of harming someone else they are not using anger but happiness

LIONFLOWER:

LOL psycho... good question...

Elenya:

Enjoyed it immensely, Lionflower... thanks again. Brightest Blessings, All
