LADY SILVER:

Greetings One and all. Please just call me Silver. I'd like you all to close your eyes for about 15 seconds and form a group mind for tonight's class. I ask the blessings of the Lord and Lady to be with us as we share our energies and our hearts. So mote it be. The class has begun!

Nestor:

So mote it be!

PAniteowl:

amen

LADY SILVER:

I don't think there is that much difference between a solitary practice and a coven practice. I do both. I have four covens in three states. I teach my students to work both as solitaries and with each other. In fact, a great deal of their training is done in a solitary fashion. Each must write a ritual for the eight high holy days and perform them in a solitary fashion to reach their first degree status. This ritual is placed within our book of shadows. In that way, each can function alone or in a group.

Solitaries can be just as powerful as groups. The only thing a solitary truly lacks is companionship and those of like mind. On the other hand, a Solitary is not frustrated by group politics. And can worship as they please without being told what to do or when to do it.

That's my spiel. I'll take questions, one at a time, and we'll get the energy flowing. Who's first?

Lionflower:

I have a question.

LADY SILVER:

yes

Lionflower:

In your tradition, Lady, how many levels do you have, and what is the year length of each? Or training requirements?

LADY SILVER:

We have four levels including dedicant. Our requirements are listed in To Stir A Magick Cauldron. There is no time limit. You work at your own pace. As you see fit.

Shatten:

do rituals have to be memorized or can they be read?

LADY SILVER:

we do both, Shatten.

Nestor:

With all due respect My lady, if a coven is functioning as a well trained group -- I have found that the level of energy is increase at a geometric rate over that of a solitary.

Lionflower:

Thank you, Lady

LADY SILVER:

Not everyone is good at memorization.

Elfears:

In what states do you have covens?

PAniteowl:

have you seen an increase in interest over the last few years?

LADY SILVER:

Okay. A solitary who is part of a "family" can draw on the energy of that "family" at any time, therefore equating to the group actually being there.

Hugmiester:

It has been said that Ravenwolf and her works lean more to Native American worship and less to Wicca or Paganism... Your thoughts on this?

LADY SILVER:

WAIT

WindsWhisper:

Do you find people of other religions coming into the craft a lot?

LADY SILVER:

Let me answer one at a time. :)

I have covens in Maryland, New York and Pennsylvania.

Yes, the Craft is growing at a fantastic rate.

Herne:

Lady Silver, how is the market for writers, was it difficult for you to get published at first? Any tips to new writers?

LADY SILVER:

Hugs, I don't know because I'm not into Native American Worship and don't know that much about their system.

Yes, people convert to the Craft often.

Shatten:

must rituals be spoken or can you just think them?

Hugmiester:

All right lets approach it from another angel. How do you feel it compares say to the Scott Cunningham books?

LADY SILVER:

No, it was not difficult to get published. The market is wide open.

Grey Myst:

How important do you feel being initiated into higher levels is when moving from a coven to a solitary practice?

LADY SILVER:

I think rituals every night, but that doesn't take the place of actually performing them.

Shatten:

thank you

WindsWhisper:

so when working a ritual its best to speak aloud then to think them in your mind?

LADY SILVER:

That depends on how important you think the initiatory practice is Grey.

jesmarc:

Lady: I am a great admirer of yours, we have no coven, just 2, we found it by " coincedence" how would we meet the levels standards?

LADY SILVER:

use your creativity, the Goddess will help you mature at your own rate.

Aldabaron:

We are not formally initiated into "Wicca" either although we did attend some training but found it to egocentric and political

LADY SILVER:

some groups are egocentric and political. Throw up my hands.

WindsWhisper:

In your book you say you seldom use the word Wiccan ,more often using The Craft why is that?

Paul:

I find it fascinating

LADY SILVER:

Because it makes me think of Wicker furniture.

Boudica:

I agree, I like The Craft better...

Elfears:

:-)

jesmarc:

we have never been initiated either... and we lack the practice... is there somewhere we can turn for support?

Boudica:

:-)

LADY SILVER:

I've found one important fact about groups.

Aldabaron:

Lady: Part of our coven is on the opposite coast, we have joined circles, no problem transferring the energy, maybe a problem directing once transferred

LADY SILVER:

No Crafter has access to all the mysteries.

okay, here's how you do it. Those physically together stand in a circle, holding hands, right over left.

PAniteowl:

You mentioned Solitaries not have the contact of a group, what do you think of the Web as a "tool" for solitaries, or do you? {G}

LADY SILVER:

use a chant. denote one person to be the "focus" and "sender"

Paul:

what do you chant?

LADY SILVER:

that person should be strong. when the cone is up, then that person says NOW... and everyone turns outward to their right, throwing the energy out, the focus person guides the energy.

services like the Web, Prodigy, and AOL are good for like minds, but you miss the interaction of human companionship, and the kinship of energy that can grow in a coven environment. Part of being a Witch is interacting on a psychic level with others.

Aldabaron:

Lady: Tks, All the energy went to one person to focus

Quandary:

??

LADY SILVER:

Not everyone can do that or learn that on a BBS system.

Annwyn:

Cyber good for sharing but not for practice

LADY SILVER:

Yes, all energy goes to one person. They are the "power pusher" of the group.

Quandary:

But what if you have not the option of a coven ??

PAniteowl:

thanks for you input

WindsWhisper:

But what if living in the bible belt limits your physical interaction with another Witch?

LADY SILVER:

Then by all means work alone.

Aldabaron:

lady: Then that was right... that's what happened... I think we were surprised... maybe confused a little

LADY SILVER:

If you call on the Mother to bring you a friend of like mind, She will bring you that friend.

Shatten:

maybe Wicca isn't for me , I like animals better than people!

Quandary:

I mean... is the WEB a viable means of connecting with others ??

LADY SILVER:

oh certainly. However, just as their are sharks in the real world, there are sharks on the web.

WindsWhisper:

Lady its funny you said that because i asked for a friend and then met one on prodigy

Lionflower:

Quandry... you never know what you're going to get.....

LADY SILVER:

Those who say they are something they are not. It is hard for new Wiccans to ferret out those who are full of it.

Herne:

Lady Silver, do you follow a particular Pantheon of deities?

jesmarc:

Lady: How should I teach my children? We live in the Bible belt also and they have been concerned that their mom was labeled a Witch

Chat Host:

One question at a time please folks. {g}

LADY SILVER:

In our coven we use the Morrigan and Herne. However, I invite all our brothers and sisters to create rituals using different pantheons. I just tell them not to mix pantheons in a single ritual. Teach your children slowly through nature and Angels.

Kelila x:

Silver, do you think it is possible to blend aspects of the Craft with aspects of Christianity?

LADY SILVER:

yes, and I have done it.

Kelila x:

::smiles:: Thank you.

Herne:

Do you then view all gods and goddesses as aspects rather than separate deities?

LADY SILVER:

I use Pow-Wow both Craft and Christian and I do hypnotherapy for cancer patients using their religion of choice.

Grey Myst:

Why shouldn't you mix pantheons? That's a common thing to do in my own training

Hugmiester:

How would you compare the RavenWolf books to the Scott Cunningham books?

Lionflower:

I have another question: about Angels in the Craft... how common is this? Angels in the Judeo Christian sense, or Angels as in spirit energy?

LADY SILVER:

good question, Herne. In ritual I view them as deities, in magick and hypnotherapy, as aspects. A matter of personal choice.

Paul:

have you been successful. Lady?

Herne:

thank you

LADY SILVER:

Grey, as some Wiccans see deities as almost human with distinct personalities, one would not mix Christ with let's say, the Morrigan. I don't think they would get along.

wait, please.

Angels: Are pre-Christian...

Grey Myst:

I mean in calling up the circle, to Invoke Yemaya for water, and Cerridwen for fire and such

Herne:

then again, could be a match made in heaven

Paul:

Lady: have you ever been successful with cancer patients?

LADY SILVER:

Michael was a Chaldean prince. Gabriel was a princess, originally.

Lionflower:

sorry, Lady. thank you

LADY SILVER:

Grey, although that can work, it may not work as well as you desire.

lol Herne.

yes, Paul.

Paul:

great

Grey Myst:

okay... however, that was what I was taught. I'm sort of confused however...

LADY SILVER:

Very good luck with tumors, especially.

no problem, Grey.

okay, whose next?

Herne:

Lady Silver, do your Covens Draw Down The Sun and Moon, and if so could you tell us something about your experiences in Aspecting?

LADY SILVER:

To me, aspecting is a form of spiritual possession. And yes, we draw down both. I had the men use torches one time and the women used roses.

Grey Myst:

Do you think it's important to keep the God in male bodies and the goddess in female bodies?

LADY SILVER:

white ones.

No Grey, a woman in the circle is entitled to strap on the sword when she feels the need, likewise, the male may commune with the Mother when he feels the need.

Quandary:

Lady, do you feel that self initiation is important for a solitary ??

LADY SILVER:

The craft is a spiritual teaching of balance.

Grey Myst:

kewl... can Solitaries aspect, or is there a need?

LADY SILVER:

I stay away from the self initiation topic...

Quandary:

Why ??

LADY SILVER:

I believe you can dedicate yourself...

Herne:

wonderful thank you, do you feel that aspecting requires training in the technique and how important do you feel aspecting to be?

LADY SILVER:

But to me, an initiation is a group thing. If you don't have it it doesn't mean you aren't a Witch.

yes, solitaries can aspect.

Quandary:

Thank you...

Red Deer:

may I ask for what reason, Silver?

Clotho:

I felt good initiating myself

WindsWhisper:

Lady what are your views on Feminist Wicca?

LADY SILVER:

I think aspecting can be learned alone, first with back-up meditation and then in a magickal circle. I wouldn't do it without the circle as a new solitary.

Then that's fine Clotho.

MinMosq:

What is a Pagan and what is a Wiccan?

LADY SILVER:

lol Minn. I think you will have to ask each Pagan and each Wiccan you meet what they think the difference is.

Clotho:

A Wiccan is a pagan but a pagan may not be a Wiccan

LADY SILVER:

Personally, I don't see much difference.

Clotho:

Some pagans follow paths other than Wicca

LADY SILVER:

very true Clotho.

Hugmiester:

I'm still awaiting a answer to my question.

LordCearnach:

In simplest of terms, a Wiccan is an initiated Pagan...

WindsWhisper:

Me too Huggy

LADY SILVER:

I'm sorry Hugs, I missed you. What was your question?

Hugmiester:

I said, how would you compare the Cunningham books to the RavenWolf books?

LADY SILVER:

Scott was my friend. We are each our own. I never make the comparison because I loved him. He had a job to do.

Shatten:

can you be wiccan if you really don't like being around people?

LADY SILVER:

I have a job to do.

jesmarc:

Lady: I have been a Witch for 26 years... solitary only... what have I missed as far as insight?

LADY SILVER:

that's up to you, Shatten.

you may have missed nothing, Jesmarc. I would have missed my kinship with all the people in my groups. So I can only speak for myself. As we all should.

jesmarc:

I wish I had had that growing up...

Paul:

Lady: is a pagan and individuals faith?

jesmarc:

thank you for your books

LADY SILVER:

why, thank you jesmarc.

jesmarc:

they shine in my soul

WindsWhisper:

LdySilver what are your views on feminist Wiccans?

Boudica:

What do you find the biggest difficulty in dealing with more than one coven... or is there?

LADY SILVER:

To be honest Paul, I'm not an expert on Paganism. I'm sure someone here in this room could answer your question better than I.

Grey Myst:

Yeah, what are your views on Dianics

Shatten:

you say others help your powers ,interaction with others, so if you don't have fellowship with others is your power less?

LADY SILVER:

Feminist: I am a feminist to the point of balance. I don't judge others.

Biggest difficulty: Getting us all together at the same time for the Clan meeting. lol

Grey Myst:

so balance is very important? A dual balance? Between male and female?

LADY SILVER:

I think the God and Goddess provide all the power you need access to if you are Solitary at the appropriate time.

Boudica:

lol, that should be the only difficulty any of us have... thanks

LADY SILVER:

Balance between male and female is healthy.

Clotho:

Power is within. Others can help increase it but you find it on your own

Herne:

How do you view the disparity between new seekers and the lack of one on one or group instruction, any comments on how we should go forward?

LADY SILVER:

Although it sounds corny, trust the Mother to guide you. Talk to Her all the time. Tell Her your needs. The same with the God. Don't just interact with divinity in ritual, live a magickal life.

jesmarc:

Lady: so the Goddess and the God are equally important? I am asking for my friend...

PAniteowl:

Have you had members of your group who have experienced negative teachings prior to joining with you?

LADY SILVER:

yes, in my eyes they are.

Grey Myst:

Oh I do

jesmarc:

thank you

WindsWhisper:

Would you say books were the correct way for a person to learn the Craft or would Coven work be better if it were possible?

LADY SILVER:

PA: I've had members who have experienced political problems in other groups, and so found their way to us...

Autumn:

PA, what do you mean negative teachings

LADY SILVER:

Winds: I think you should follow what you feel is the correct way for you to learn. Some people prefer coven environment, some prefer studying first.

Everyone in my group as studied first. I don't often take them "cold. "

Knight:

M'Ldy, in the art of mystics, the contemplation of fields, only allegorical forms of speech reveal the rapture that can't define the inexpressible. Does this prove in methodology of practice?

Red Deer:

and some prefer solitaire

LADY SILVER:

Yes, me Lord. That does apply. When you know what you are doing, that is.

jesmarc:

Lady: Do you know of any covens in the Texas panhandle area?

Clotho:

Solitaire can be a resting time.

PAniteowl:

Good practice Lady {g}

LADY SILVER:

contact the WARD director for that state. She can probably tell you who is practicing.

Quandary:

WARD ??

jesmarc:

how would we do that?

Annwyn:

How does one contact the Ward director

Grey Myst:

Should you enter or train with a coven when you know "perfect love and perfect trust" will never come?

WindsWhisper:

How do you find the WARD director?

LADY SILVER:

Witches Against religious Discrimination.

jesmarc:

through... ?

LADY SILVER:

Look in the back of To Ride or to Stir, the addresses are listed for WARD{ WADL{ Lady Liberty League, etc.

jesmarc:

thank you

LADY SILVER:

If you believe perfect love and perfect trust will never come, then don't enter the coven.

Cloudburst:

I think WARD is also accessible through the COG home page.

LADY SILVER:

Humans are capable of perfect love and perfect trust within the circle environment. I know, we do it all the time. That doesn't mean that every once in a while things will not work that way, but then, we are human, after all.

Clotho:

how can I find the COG home page?

PAniteowl:

Our own Bonnie Vernik can be reached on the Wiccan BB for WADL

LADY SILVER:

I love Bonnie Vernik.

Cloudburst:

Clotho, get on a browser and search COG. Worked for me{G}

PAniteowl:

{g} great Lady Silver ... I agree

Grey Myst:

Well Silver, perfect love yes, but trust, probably not... however, I could trust as far as any of my trust would go... it just wouldn't be perfect

Grey Myst:

I was wondering how important that was

Clotho:

Thanks Cloudburst

WindsWhisper:

Ldy any advise on discovering your Craft name?

LADY SILVER:

In circle, Grey, it does come, and you don't even realize it.

A Craft name should be like your finger print -- it should represent what you wish to attain.

Autumn:

what if someone you knew in the past and had MAJOR problems with, this is someone you cant stand to even hear their name, became part of a coven you had recently joined into

LADY SILVER:

Or skills you already possess.

WindsWhisper:

But how do you find it? I've had problems

LADY SILVER:

Autumn, first, I would have heart failure...

Herne:

do you have much differences between first and subsequent degrees?

WindsWhisper:

kind of a mind block on the name thing

LADY SILVER:

Then I would go to my altar and start talking to Mom and ask Her what my next best move should be.

Shatten:

my birth number is 9, and my name adds up to nine

LADY SILVER:

Yes, Herne, there is a big difference here, but we do not separate ourselves by these differences...

PAniteowl:

Look within Winds ... let it come easy ... forcing doesn't do it, or listen to your dreams to tell you

Grey Myst:

what do you suggest for those who are too fidgety to meditate?

Autumn:

cause two weeks ago i joined into a coven, and now an old 'nemesis' of mine has just joined

LADY SILVER:

I mean, no one here brags about their degree because they all know that with the initiation process, great changes come in their lives, and each must slog through this process. We respect each other.

Herne:

what do you mean Lady Silver by not separating by degrees?

Kelila x:

I feel that sometimes a "nemesis" is just what we need to spur growth at times.

Herne:

ok thanks

LADY SILVER:

Grey, I suggest using "over the counter meditation tapes" or soft music, short periods of meditation, five minutes or less to begin.

Wulf Eyes:

Ldy... in my circle, degrees are VERY defined

Cloudburst:

Yeah, Kelila, but maybe not right in the same small group...

Quandary:

What are your thoughts on allowing solitaries to work within Coven circles ?? Have you had any dealings with this ?

jesmarc:

how are degrees defined?

LADY SILVER:

To me, the degree system is a process of growth and maturation, but it should not separate each other -- we are still all equal. Quand -- we hold open circles occasionally so that solitaries may enjoy others of like mind.

Kelila x:

{g} You are probably right, Cloud.

LADY SILVER:

however, not all traditions do this.

PAniteowl:

LdySilver, what experiences have you had on the "public" circuit since your books are so well received?

LADY SILVER:

Actually, I'm just now moving into public world. So far, my experiences have been good. Newspapers, television, radio, all good. My schedule... Columbus Ohio this coming weekend. Free Spirit Festival in Maryland in June. Tennessee in June. Starwood in New York in July. UEA Conference in Texas in September. whew.

Annwyn:

Taking the kids?{G}

Quandary:

sleeping any ??

LADY SILVER:

To some of the events yes, to others, no.

LADY SILVER:

no, no sleep.

Autumn:

What do you think of books written by D. J. Conway, or Starhawk?

LADY SILVER:

Toothpicks.

PAniteowl:

Do you get a census of the audience for your speaking engagements? Young, old, crafters, wannabees???

Quandary:

LOL

Hugmiester:

What are your thought on releasing the mysteries into literature? It's my belief that we are looked about with fear and disdain because unlike other religions we keep stuff hidden while say Christianity everything you want to know is out there for you to read.

LADY SILVER:

D. J. is a personal friend of mine, so BUY HER BOOKS.

I have never met StarHawk but I think she is a great person.

Grey Myst:

I do have her books

jesmarc:

where in Texas?

Autumn:

i have her book, Dancing with Dragons, LOVE it too

LADY SILVER:

Audience is made up of all sorts of people.

Shatten:

what Tarot cards do you use?

Fancy:

MM Lady Silver, have you any new books coming out this summer?

LADY SILVER:

Actually, the mysteries are everywhere. You don't have to be a part of a tradition or coven to access them. Fort Worth, Texas.

Hugmiester:

But most who do the Craft say you should let others find them on their own instead of say writing about them

LADY SILVER:

I have a Dali deck, Shatten, and of course, Robin Wood. actually, I have thirty decks...

blorg:

WOW!

jesmarc:

Lady: where in Ft. Worth?

LADY SILVER:

Two new books coming out in the fall. Angels, Companions in Magick; and The Rune Oracle with Nigel Jackson book and cards in October.

Grey Myst:

Do you agree with the idea that a Tarot deck must be given to you in order for it to work right?

Shatten:

which is your favorite?

Musashii:

LdySiver, where in Columbus will you be and how can I get information on attending?? I live in Toledo.

LADY SILVER:

Hugs. I only follow what the Goddess and God tell me to do. I can't answer for other writers.

Hugmiester:

Are you going to reveal any of the mysteries in your new books? If so why and if not why not?

LADY SILVER:

I don't know yet, jes. I will soon.

jesmarc:

I could get there... that is why I'm being so persistent

LADY SILVER:

No Grey, I don't agree with that.

jesmarc:

thank you

LADY SILVER:

Shatten, the Dali deck.

Hugmiester:

LADY SILVER:

okay Red, here's your answer as it means to me... Initiation serves two functions:

Lionflower:

Blessed be, Lady Silver. Thank you for answering all of our questions.

Boudica:

Thank you very much for a wonderful class, Lady

LADY SILVER:

One. It is the gift of a group of people to hold a ceremony for an individual. An act of the group mind.

Wulf Eyes:

Thank you for the knowledge, Ldy

LADY SILVER:

Two: It is the passing of Power from lineage.

WindsWhisper:

Thank you LdySilver

Chat Host:

Boudica... if Silver is willing... bring on the quarters!

Grey Myst:

thanks Ldy, I hope you'll chat with us again on a regular level

LADY SILVER:

Quandary:

You mean we are not interchangeable ??

Fancy:

Lady Silver do you come to chat often?

Tarotmoon:

LOL

PAniteowl:

LOL Ldy ... Welcome to the Wicca Chat room ... !!!

Boudica:

Which is what makes us all different and why Wicca is so varied

LADY SILVER:

that's right Boudica.

PAniteowl:

You certainly do fit right in here {G}

LADY SILVER:

I am new to Prodigy Fancy. I was here years ago, but left.

Red Deer:

Initiation has nothing to do with accepting a place on the Web, and being recognized there both really and subtly?

LADY SILVER:

if people are viewing it as such, then in my mind, that is wrong.

Fancy:

well welcome back. lol

Lionflower:

lol

Nestor:

Actually getting back to the Mysteries -- as we discussed last night My Lady --anyone one would do very well to look at the materials about the Eleusinian mysteries of ancient Greece

Red Deer:

Just, I've always thought of initiation as being more to the Lady and Lord than to a group

Nestor:

there are so many clue and ideas there to point the way

Grey Myst:

I have, I got an A in that section of the class

LADY SILVER:

Solitaries think that Red, until they go through the process.

Chat Host:

Me too Red

Red Deer:

excellent essay by Jung & Kerenyi, Nestor

Cloudburst:

RD, IMO that's the initiation you get from the gods (or don't{G}) - your second comment sounds more like dedication in a d+3 tradition...

LADY SILVER:

Ultimately, it is a gift from the Lord and Lady, but so wonderful when facilitated by a group mind who loves and cares for you.

LordCearnach:
