BEFORE you undertake ANY of the following, PLEASE read carefully the  Bonewits Cult Danger Evaluation Scale  and give Isaac's information serious thought. Many people fail to consider that there are horrible as well as wonderful Pagans out there. This scale provides a very objective way to assess folk you make contact with - and can really help save your hide. And remember, if it's got to be their way or no way - NO WAY IS THE WAY TO GO!!!

1) The Witches' Voice has several connections pages which may be of assistance:

Witches of the World

Young Pagans of the World

Covens and Groups

Circles and Events

2) Check out your local Unitarian Universalist congregation. Most larger congregations have a Covenant of Unitarian Universalist Pagans (CUUPs) group within as Nature Religions are one of the recognized paths within the UU movement.

3) Inquire at your local metaphysical or new age shop. Most keep a bulletin board which folk use to contact each other.

HOW TO LEARN MORE ABOUT THE CRAFT
{WITCHCRAFT, WICCA, OR WHATEVER}

Please don't write me with very general questions like "What is Witchcraft?" or "How do I become a Witch?" or "Will you tell me how to do it?" At a very basic level, answering such questions for folk is the purpose of this website. Not only do we strive to keep both basic and in depth information posted here, but we provide a plethora of links to sites which may assist with furthering one's education, and an almost exhaustive reading list (perhaps that should be exausting? {G}).

Beyond the basics, however, is the fact that neither I nor anyone else can just tell you how to become a Witch. I've been studying for twenty years, and the more I know the more aware I become of how much there is yet to learn. The Craft is something that you grow into, that grows with you. There's no "poof, your a Witch dearie..." or, at least if there is, I've not encountered it. Don't really want to either. As someone dear once said to me -

"If you need a religion with answers
one of the Big Three may do,
but if you seek a religion with questions
then the Craft may be for you."

This little quote says to me that the Craft is for those who seek their own answers to the BIG questions, rather than asking someone else to provide them. In essence, Witchcraft is a Shamanic path... we are all our own intermediaries with the Spirit World, with the Goddess and the God. Yes, we need teachers, but not ones whose answers we accept... rather ones whose answers cause us to ask more questions, the answers to which raise even more questions, and so on ad infinitum.

On the other hand, however, PLEASE DO write if you want to explore a specific topic or idea about the Craft... especially if it was generated by something contained within this site. And I certainly do NOT expect agreement - press my points, disagree with me, ask me questions that make ME think. This is what teaching and learning is all about!

Please just don't ask. For very many reasons, I do NOT deal with folk I've never met about this material and I'm happy to share with you a few of them.

1) I don't do curses and I don't deal with them. If you're worried about someone who may or does, your energy is much better spent learning to shield yourself rather than focusing on their negativity.

2) I do weave spells, but I don't share them.

3) The power of a good spell lies in it's creation, in it being tailored to the cause at hand, during the season at hand, and using the materials naturally at hand at the time a spell is woven. In other words, cook book spells are (in my never humble opinion) Garbage. Sure, some of the well-known authors include spells in their books... but a smart Witch would only use these for ideas, not as recipes. And a creative Witch studies the attributes of herbs, candles, colors, words, moons, and seasons - and then creates her/his own spells for the specific job or occasion.

4) Finally, giving another spell work is much like giving advice in psychotherapy - the act DISempowers the individual. Say I give you a spell and it works... you can't really claim responsibility for the outcome as I was the one who created it. On the other hand, if I give you a spell and it fails, or it works TOO well, or there is a backlash... you have an out for avoiding responsibility, again because I was the one who created it. And, since Witchcraft is ultimately about Personal responsibility - need I say more?
