Rebecca Holmes
I'm a recent graduate of UNC–Chapel Hill, where I studied physics (B.S.) and creative writing (minor). I'll be starting graduate studies in physics at The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in the fall. I spent the Fall 2009 semester as an exchange student at Trinity College in Dublin, Ireland.

Recently I was a summer intern with the P-23 Weak Interactions Team at Los Alamos National Laboratory in New Mexico, where I researched microphonic noise in germanium dectectors. In Chapel Hill I work part time at the Morehead Planetarium and Science Center and also for the UNC Experimental Nuclear and Particle Astrophysics group. I'm the physics editor and a staff writer for Carolina Scientific, the undergraduate science magazine at UNC, and I lead Supplementary Instruction study groups for introductory physics classes.

In 2009 I was a NASA Student Ambassador for the International Year of Astronomy 2009. I also represented NASA and the U.S. at the IYA 2009 Opening Ceremony at UNESCO in Paris in January 2009.
