Internships and Assistants in Field Biology

Field assistants or interns usually receive room and board and sometimes a stipend.   Often there are opportunities to conduct independent projects that can provide the data for independent or honors research in Biology or Environmental Sciences at UNC-CH.

'internship' plus a modifier such as 'wildlife', 'bird', 'animal', 'ecology', 'conservation', or other

or 'REU' plus any of these modifiers (REU = Research Experience for Undergraduates as funded by the National Science Foundation)

Ornithological Societies of North America
dozens (sometimes hundreds) of internships or field assistantships
mostly in the summer but also at other times
mostly in the US but also elsewhere
(positions usually posted 3-9 months in advance)

Animal Behavior Society
many postings by projects that are seeking field assistants
from around the world

summer internships in national parks and forests

summer internships banding/surveying populations of birds
for conservation projects thrughout the US
